you can get the rpo code off of the axle housing.. should be towards the front of the car, on the passenger side.. probably be all rusty and dirty.. need to get under there with a wire brush and flashlight

i dont know about the older ones, but you can tell what ratio you have on the fourth gens by removing the cover and looking at the numbers stamped on the side of the gears...

If your going to remove the cover you can just count up the teeth on each gear and figure out the ratio with that.

i dont know about the older ones, but you can tell what ratio you have on the fourth gens by removing the cover and looking at the numbers stamped on the side of the gears...The fast way to tell the ratio is to put a small piece of 200 MPH tape on the drive shaft and one on the tire. Get your floor jack and jack up the rear. Now rotate the drive shaft by hand. So, for example if your driveshaft turns 4 time to make your tire rotate once you have a 4 to one gear ratio..§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§REFUSE TO LOSE§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§

by the rear, do you mean is its posi or open, or what gear ratio you have, or the size of the ring gear? there should be a spid label somewhere on the car, that has the build codes, they should tell you what you want to know. im afraid i dont konw where the label is or what the codes are off the top of my head, but i can try to find out for ya if you want.

Ya turning the driveshaft around until the wheel goes around once will give you a rough idea of what ratio the rearend should have. Thats how I tested my rearend when I bought it.
