high octaine

anyone find a noticable difference using high octaine gasoline?

yep :biggrin: kinda gets you in the wallet though

I liked it when I had my HPP3...Ima LOVE it when I get my Nelson tune...one day..

I tried changing octane's and didn't notice a big difference. I use to run 91 in it and now I run 89 in it and I haven't noticed a difference at all. It still gets' up and goes and I save a few pennies on fuel.

In the U.S. we have 93 octane, though. I can feel the extra kick.

jeverett- you have a url for that nelson tune? I never heard of them.

It's been my experience that if your motor runs good on 89 octane, with out any knocks or pings, than any higher octane is a waste of money. If you stay with good gas that has the best additives, than you're ok. I think you may even hurt your performance with higher octane then you need. It's my understanding that raising the octane actually raises the flash point of gas so a higher compression engine won't set the fuel off before the plug fires. (knocks and pings)

where can you get 93? I only have 92 in Washington State and Oregon

I too would like some more info on that "nelson tune", including a URL. Will it work with any performance upgrades or is it like most of the other tuning systems which are designed for "basically stock" engines????

I've been reading on this, and talking to the owner, Allen, and from what I've read, these tunes of his really kick ass. You're replacing the while PCM, its not just a handheld tuner.
