Hi everyone...... I recently replaced my head gaskets on my 97 monte 3.1 engine. The car overheated and blew the gaskets. Took heads to a machine shop, and had them pressure tested and milled. put car back together even noting the differient size push rods. when i went to start it it sound like there is no compression can the valve be misadjusted? the pistons move and so does the rocker arms. Im at a loss If anyone knows please let me know ....thanks

your motor has zero lash rocker arms. you tighten them to a specific torque value (20ft/lbs i think) so I don't think it's valve related. Have you checked the compression? Did you check the block for warpage with a straight edge? Give us a little more info as to what it's doing/not doing.

it just spins the motor was checked for being straight

is there a way i can check the timing chain without opening up the motor

if the rocker arms move, it's not a broken timing chain. The chain could be stretched, but it wouldn't cause zero compression. Either the valves are bent and not sealing, or you have some serious worn/broken rings. Do any of the cylinders have compression, or are they all zero?

you may want to have a cylinder leak down test done. that will tell you where you are losing all your compression at.
