turbo sound

hey everyone. I just bought my 88 turbo supra as my first car and was recently reading about them. This might be a dumb question but i was wondering that when the turbo was running are you supoose to hear a whistling noise? i thought you were suppose to, but ive also read that you aren't suppoe to hear any noise from the turbo? My car does make a whistle when it spools up and what not. :eek7: any help would be appreceated and thanks in advace!

If you hear anything other than a faint wirring/whistling on a bone stock 7mgte then something is probably leaking or broken like the recirc valve or turbocharger. If you have an upgraded exhaust though the turbo sound will be very appearent, 3"+ especially. IC hardpipes and an upgraded filter also make it stand out.

Hehe yea, I have 3" straight pipe and that thing twiters so loud.. sounds sweet. Too bad I don't have a better turbo.
