k ppl just out of sheer curiosity
the bigger bikes are mostly what ppl seen to aspire to, and admire most when it comes to bikes, but what about the humble 600cc
what are u guys preferred 600cc (or less) bikes?
also any reasons?
cheers

Im planning on getin a 600cc for my starter bike...I think they get the job done just as well, and are no less of a bike then any others...

I like 600s. They get the job done but after riding them for so long I've gotten use to them. That's where the 750 is my next bike.

Stay away from the Katana. The bike has poor build quality and you'll learn more on a 4Fi than that porker.

haha, 600 ccs are 10-11 sec bicycles, yeah, they're quite slow ;)

Yeah, but I can still beat most street cars out there on a bone stock 600cc bike...lol.

It's funny how a bike can be so fast yet feel slow when one becomes use to the power and acceleration.

It's in our nature to push the envelope until we bust our balls. Containing ourselves would seem repetitious. That might be the reason why people get bored of even 600HP buggy as opposed to 1-4 HP buggy back in the days.

hey Pete,
as we have to start on 250's and they are quite small for the average person, the next step up is a 600. most 600's have more than enough power for any one at any stage. depending on the model, our insurance rating is lower for 600's than the 750-1000+ bikes. the older 600's are the same size as the new breed of 1000's. take a look at the 98 YZF1000 thunderace. bloody big bike compared to todays standard.
as for preferred bikes, need a budget and a rough age for a more accurate reply. do you want a sports-tourer or sports bike?
personally i wanted to upgrade for size and comfort but also a bike that i wouldn't outgrow performance wise

well i was just thinking about what sort of bike id like to move up to in the future
was talking to a mate about it and hes not getting anything bigger than a 600cc bike, doesnt see a point, and i can see where he is coming from to.
we just got talking about 600's and what was the best bike, he was thinking about R6's (cept didnt like the looks) or a CBR600
i was just curious cause i am going to move on to a bigger bike eventually and was thinking which 600 would be best.
so i just wanted to get ppls opinions of the sports/tourer bikes (id prefer a tourer)

You will learn more on a dirtbike in 6 months, than you will learn on any
streetbike in 5 years.

hey pete,
when i went to upgrade, i rode all the 96 model 600's (this was in 98) and found them not much more than my 250. they were faster and more responsive but not as much as i thought. i rode a 96 YZF1000 and it blew me away. i knew it was too much power. when i rode the gixer 750 it was too much power for a newbie but still controllable.
considering that the 250's available haven't changed much, the 2000+ models of all the 600's will be comparable to my 750. by the time you upgrade, you'd be considering one of these. if you like tourers more than full sports and like to go two-up, my recommendeation would be a cbr600f4i
heres a pic of a 2004 model

I can live with the seat and back section of that bike, but the front half look of the bike really cheapens it status as a super sport. I know the older F2s, 3s and 4s were much heavier, but somehow, I find them slimmer and much attractive than ones that received Fuel Injections (01+). I think it's the fairings and gas tank, overtly bulky and quite opposite of RR. May be they shared designs with Suzuki? hehe.

I agree with Rufe to an extent. The only thing you will lack is street smarts. But that cannot be learned without expierience. I rode 250's on the track and on the trails for over 4 years before I even hopped on a street bike. So yes, learning the basic functions of a bike in general is probably best done on the dirt where it's ok to drop the bike. I don't think he meant streat smarts.. Just learning the basic opperation of a bike.
