If you haven't heard it then here's the story. I was just wondering what you guys thought about it.

hmm... didn't know they actually meant it when they said patrolled by aircraft...
I guess you'd have to be speeding by quite a bit to get caught. You could also just get off the highway as soon as you were done speeding...

hmm kinda amusing, imagine the wind at that speed!
i wouldnt have thought the bike could go that sort of speed, without reasonable modification.

caution: im drunk so my opinion may not be all that PC....
1: if he DID clock that speed, well done to such a young fella being able with limited experience to control (or atleast hang on) to the bike at that kind of speed..
2: If he didnt.. well thats a shitty job by the police, not that i imagine the task of detecting these speeds without a precise piece of electronic equipment to do so would be easy...
3: well.... his certaintly got more balls (or less brains) than i EVER will... i know a guy that was brought back to life at an accident doing 60 KMH...
my worthless, crappy 2 cents :D

I doubt his RC51 could reach those speeds without serious alternations to the engine and bodywork. Busa and ZX-12R, how about MotoGP speeds? Most of the MotoGP bikes are lighter than 600cc production bikes but their 990cc engines push out more than 240+ horses this year. Which emphasizes how much I doubt this kid could go that fast on the bike.

We've discussed this on another forum of mine, and we have decided the eye in the sky must not have been very accurate in timing him.

^ ^ yah, sbw.sportbikes.com. The guy was probably going 170-180mph, not 205. And usually cops are morons when calculating speed from moving vehicle.

Agreed Saturn & Z-Fan.. When they said he was on a Honda motorcycle I immediatly thought of the RC51.. However without at least a turbo mod/upgrade that bike tops out at around 165mph give or take.. Even if geared right it would take some doing at 205mph.. They said the officer couldn't keep up with him in his aircraft (plane or chopper, I don't know) so he used his stop watch and timed him between mile markers.. Probably flunked math though.. Oh BTW, On the topic of cops and the law... I have a question for you guys...
I just got done riding some twisties (about 5 minutes ago) and on my way down the hill two cops on bikes were coming up and went by me.. Well about 1/2 mile behind them came a couple more bikes (speeding up the hill). They signaled to me (waved) and I tapped the top of my helmet with me left hand signaling that there were cops up ahead.. Now is this the correct procedure as to warn others of police or do you guys have another (more common) way.
Thanks guys..

what a country America is. you guys have proven pigs CAN fly. oh its a proud, proud day.
our fastest recorded fine is 285km/hr ( 177mph) through the sydney harbour tunnel by a digital speed camera by an R1 in 2002. the guy thought he could go fast enough to "outrun" the shutter speed

speed cameras are set up to get the back licence plate... the sensor detects as they go past, camera gets them just as there are past :)
interesting story:
in OZ, speed cam's are operated by private companys.. any way a couple kids managed to sneak up behind a camera car and remove the numberplate while one mate distracted the guy behind the wheel for a quick chat... then they installed the plate onto their own car and drove past this one camera car (i forget how many times, but repeatedly) over the speed limit.. quite amusing i thought, give it a shot over in the states! :D

Tapping your helmet is one way to warn other bikers, but not all bikers know that signal. I always go with the "flashing the high beams" method b/c I do it in my car, as well as my bike. It seems more people are familiar with that one.

personally i reckon a new internationally recognised signal should be made for bikers.. just for the sake of having your own secret signal...
how cool

I heard about the tapping helmet thing from a riding crew/club here in Cali a while back.. I figured it was a good idea so I have used it since.. Plus you figure if a guy taps the top of his helmet and you wonder wtf was he doing?.. then a mile down the road you see the cop. Usually if you're smart enough you'll be able to put two and two together...especially if you end up getting busted by that cop!

on our 'old road' that both bikers and therefore cops love, we usually put left hand out over the screen with the palm face down and move it up and down as in "slow down".
a tap on the head may be a guy with an itchy noggin.
one of the guys around here who's a stunter (can't think of his name or have time right now) rides with a 'collection of bike's' but not a gang and they had rules and signs to ride by that seemed logical. i'll search for his website later

Fox News version: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,133198,00.html
205 mph guy on RC51:
All right, I was the one who got the ticket and it is time to clear some things up. For one, I was riding a 2003 Honda RC51, "heavily modified" with 2 Brothers slip on pipes and, well thats all the mods I have unless you count the "I stop for wh***s" sticker. Next, the bike wasn't impounded, it was towed so it wouldn't be in the roadway. Ok, on to the tickets. 205...uh no. I am personal friends with the owner of "Hitman Motorsports" and tonight, Sept. 22, we did a top speed run on his dyno, in 6th gear, and maxed nearly 60mph slower than I was arrested for. The "no motorcycle endorsement" is because my licence was expired, I do have a motorcycle endoresement for all you people digging into me about that. The stop watch method may be accurate at times, but this is un-conceivable for my motorcycle to approach 205. Honda's RC211v, which is Honda's MotoGP race bike, 5 cyclinders and 268 horespower, just broke 200mph on the track within the last week. And we are talking about a 1/2 to 3/4 million dollar bike. And for you gear-heads, I had on Joe Rocket Boots, Shoei helmet, Leather gloves, Ballistic coat, and leather bottoms. Also, both of us were arrested, and no, the slower one did not get a warning, he was ticketed for 111mph on a F4i. I hope this clears things up for everybody, I am just sick of everyone saying things about what they dont know, making me look like this horrific person. People speed, and if anyone knows anything about the "Flood Run" (which was the ride I was on, which by the way benefits the Gillettes Children Fund) I would be a hell of a lot more concerned about the 7,000 bar-hopping motorcyclist out on the road. 99% of the people you hear things from are misinformed. If you have questions, I will answer them. And one last note, this is information you don't know, the pilot who clocked me, was clocking me, the F4i, and flying his plane at 110mph all at the same time. Think about that for a second.

This guy is decent in my book, he was doing quite less than 140 mph. Some people are just misinformed/uneducated/illiterate asses (those particular cops and media sensationalists) as well a few hypocritical people over the boards.

when they do speed calculations from a aircraft they do it by picking a certan lenth and then count how long it takes to go from each point so if the guy was going 180 mph a second diffrence in between each point would make quite a diffrenenc.
