I have an 89 turbo trans am. I have done a complete tune up. Everything was replaced. I'm getting a high idle of 1500 rpm at dead stop. The car wants to burn rubber by itself. I need to know how to get the idle back to 500 rpm like it should be.
Is there any suggestions?

Did you do anything with the IAC?

Can you be more specific. Is that the idle air control sensor. If so, what do I do to check it. I am not a mechanic.

The idle air control valve is on the throttle body, it has a pintle that moves in and out to adjust for throttle position to allow air into the car to keep it running at closed throttle. If it is bad or somehow was misadjusted the idle may not be good. Also check for a loose or disconnected vacuum line.
