Hesitation & Jerking

Hi,

I have a 99 F-150 with 134,118 miles on it. It is a V6 and has an AODE transmission in it. My wife and I were going out to eat and got off the express way ramp onto the highway and was getting ready to turn into oncoming traffic. As I was trying to accellerate, the truck reved up for about 2-3 seconds before going into gear. I let off the accellerator to let the transmission catch up and tried again. That time, it went into gear and I got to my destination. I am thinking this would be related to the transmission but am not sure. I wasn't sure if it is time for a transmission rebuild right now or if I should wait a little longer? I change the fluid out every 30K miles. I have also been noticing that when I want to pull out onto the road and notice that another vehicle is approaching fast behind me, I can step on the gas to get ahead quickly and the truck seems like it shifts into the next gear hard, thus jerking everyone in the truck. Is this normal with my particular vehicle year? Hope someone out there can help me out.

Thanks,

Chris
