3.4 into 96 GASE?

In my classes (for GM technician) i am able to bring in an engine and rebuild it, however i want. Im wondering if a 3.4 from a 99+ GA will fit in my 96, with little or no mods. Or would it be better to rebuild a 3.1 or 2.4 or 2.3? Personally i like the 3.4 in my dads 02 GA so i would like that engine in my car. But not stock..thanks ahead.

the 3.1L in the 96 is basically the same block as the 3.4L in the 99+ yrs. If you have a 3.1 now it should be a simple drop in. I even think the factory computer will still work.

Now if you have the 4cyl, then you'd have to do some mods to the car... but probably nothing serious (mounting wise).. Although, you'd need new wireing & ECM.

yea i have the 4 cyl...the wiring and ECM would not be that hard to come by...i could get it as easily as i could get a used 3.4. So yea im not exactly sure what im gunna do yet...but ill keep posting my results..thanks
