I know a guy who has a 79' camaro and he wants to sell it. I was wondering, If i bought it, would I be able to change the 4-speed auto and put in a stick?

well normally i would say that the easiest way would be to find a donor car, but that might not very easy to do with a 79. the basic idea behind this swap is that the car is already setup to be a stick, you just have to get the parts and fill in the gaps. i really have no idea how much it would cost, depending on how you do things i would say 3-5 grand. not sure though...

There are a lot of places to get them. What model? What speed manual? What year? What type? Used or rebuilt or new? There are a lot of things to consider when looking around for them, but I found it best to call shops around where you live and ask them for a deal on a used rebuilt one with not a zillion miles on it. Then they might even throw it down a bit if you offer to give them your old one. www.Fbodymotorsports.com is a good place to look if im thinking of the right site, but they are spendy.

i would keep it auto with a slap shift, thats what im doing. its alot of work to change over. when your all done, you will relize that you should have just got one already done for all the money you just put into it.
