Homemade Turbo!?

Ok, well i have big visions for the 3rd gen, but the turbo's are a bit pricey, and mitsu definitely shouldve hooked us up... So i've come up with a cheap alternative to this turbo issue... I plan to test this method sometime soon on an old piece of shit proto-car... Ok this is it... What if we took a leafblower and suspended it through a sizable hoodscoop... First step is done, second step we run a hose from the outlet of the blower to the throttle body.. After that we run another hose to where the intake is on the blower and shove it into the scoop, causing a ram air effect, which may over power the blower's fan, i dunno. Either way The leafblower should run on gas because electric might be a little complicated, and so there ya have it compressed air running right into the intake manifold... Turbo... I was wondering how much PSI that might kick out, and if any engine could handle that, give me your feedback guys and i might just give it a shot...

actually, it sounds more like a supercharger/blower setup than turbo....

It wasnt serious but sounds like something fun to try when im bored... And yes i have realized it is more so a turbo, and when it runs out of gas, put more in it!

Yeah its all good, i love these 3rd gens, my best friends got one, we race that thing up and down the map... One day we would like to join in on one of those cross country races, but thats off topic... I've found a proto-car for my project, its an 800 dollar piece of shit... so im gonna try and get my hands on that and go ahead and run my procedure...

i've been thinking about doing something w/ a 1g GSX or a 87 supra turbo, or even a 240, but i'm going to have to save my money a lot before i get any of those, they seem to have a better power potential than the eclipse and better drivetrain...not to mention they are a lot more affordable to beat

i might even have to learn how to bend pipes and weld

i know some people with turbo mustangs, theyre fast as hell... but they respond better to superchargers, at least thats my point view (enter the cobra)...

after the leaf blower, you should put a fire extinguisher that sprays out from under the hood and say its your nos purge cloud.

Actually thats a great idea, but i think i'll stick with effective results... It really works, i tested it on a ford taurus today, works like a charm...

yeah, sounds like a leafblower... It's all about the small percent of boost i'm gettin, i think i'll ghetto it up a bit more to try and measure the amount of psi it pushes out by riggin out a tire pressure guage to fit and accurately portray a 2" outlet...
