I am trying to gather information about my 2000 320 CLK and the audio system that is factory installed. I want to put in a Kenwood KTV-910 CD/DVD/MP3 Player which has a 45 watt per channel output and I am geting different answers about how it can be done. The answer I like best is to hook up an after market piece from soundgate which will reduce the 45 watts so it can be installed directly into the bose amplifer. I am told by Mercedes that the system is all optical and that makes me wonder if any of this will work. Has anyone installed after market head units in their 320? If so what is the best way to do it. All help appreciated!

I believe the 2000 models have the CAN system, which makes it very difficult to install anything else in there because the D2b ring is all interconnected...ie. the radio, cd changer, info cluster in the dash, antenna, amp, and intergrated phone system are all connected in a optical cable loop. Breaking this loop will cause all systems to malfunction. I don't doubt it can not be done, but it will not be cheap.
