You are right the XBOX is the best console.It has by far the best hardware. Many peolple hate Microsoft products because its fashionable to do so.

Yeah X-Box has a little game selection compared to PS2, but that doesn't make it suck. PS2 and X-box are basically the same, except for the hard drive and modem. But that will soon change (hopefully by August) The Ps2 is a lot better for the realistic games, where as the x-box is better for the more cartoony type games. But it all comes down to wether your a gamer or not, if you are a gamer stop putting down systems just because you can't afford or don't have that system. Just appreciate what you have, and make good use out of it.

i agree. but what about atari? they were the first. besides kelico vision or whatever. but i have an atari, nitendo (the origonal from the 80's), sega genisis, ps1, and a ps2. tried X-BOX. it sucks ass. the controller is fucked up just like that Gamecube thing. PS2 IS KING!!!!

This is thread is pretty dumb. I'll reply anyways. When comes to racing games, sony has xbox beat by a mile. Xbox has everything PS2 has a more. Halo is the only xbox game that makes me glad that I got an xbox. But with gran turismo 4 coming out, i'm getting me a used ps2. I can't miss that. I don't miss buying memory cards though, that's for sure.

looking at this from a car enthusiast standpoint, first buy the ps2 for the best racing games: gran turismo, driver, nfs, txr, and THEN, if you have the money and have beaten the ps2 games, you spring for the xbox. there are enough games that its well worth it, just no better than the ps2. as long as there's rallisport challenge, sega gt, apex, pgr, etc. there's no reason not to buy both. if you pledge your loyalty to one system, you're a stupid fanboy, and you end up losing as I play EVERY good racing game and you only play half!

Hmmm most unusual to have a thread about which is better PS2 or Xbox when the answer is so obviously pointless. I must say this though Xbox is more powerful and when they have the games right it's better than a PS2, but the thing is they both lack any sort of realism or accuracy. Gran Turismo 3 is the most boring game I've played on a 2000 or newer console, until I played project gotham racing. I used to love Gran Turismo 2, until I bought myself a decent PC..

Ever since the release of Sports Car GT for PC, no console game could ever match a PC game again. And now that I have F1 Challenge 99-02 for PC I even dislike SCGT even it has become boring. Now what makes it so special? What makes SCGT so damn special? How the hell could it compare to GT3 with it's 300 cars or something. You ask this and I simply answer that SCGT has well over 1000 cars. And so many Tracks that Toca Race drivers ~37? tracks is completely overshadowed. SCGT has more than 200 tracks. In order to obtain this kind of numbers of tracks and cars you'd need to download them, but when the game has a physics engine that disheartens many GT3 players (and the rest will never learn) you'll see it all worth while. Oh and let's not forget it actually has damage!

But hang on, didn't I say this fabulous sounding game has been superceded? And why yes, yes it has. F1 Challenge 99-02. A game that will set you back around $10-20 USD, and has many improvements upon this SCGT I spoke of earlier. The physics and graphics and even sounds of SCGT are not great. SCGT's Graphics are worse than GT3 without a doubt (except textures are better), and the sound is close, but still not as good GT3. F1 Challenge fixes these problems, the graphics are definately better with the only exception of reflections. And sounds that will make you druel. Plus AI that leave you room and apply fair driving, and actually challenge you without hitting you. Plus an unrivaled physics engine that will make you feel every last movement of the car. And ho yes damage. Destroy your car piece by piece as you verse people on the other side of the world through the multiplayer mode.

This game may only have 100+ Tracks, but that is more than any other console game will ever have. And with all the new mods being released, there will be more cars than Gran Turismo 4 will ever have.

If this isn't enough, next year will see the greatest racing simulation ever, so good I refuse to call it a game. GTR by SBDT AB, a game based on the FIA GT 2003 season, with the most realistic physics ever to be seen, and graphics that will rival GT4's reflection mapping which if anything will be the only thing to make GT4 graphics look better, textures and polygons of GT4 will be dwarfed and make it look like a child has created the textures and models. Not to mention extremely advanced multiplayer and AI. Sounds that will sound so tremendous someone may think you have a car in the house. Not to mention the ability to win a REAL sports car in a Multiplayer championship. Plus the support of a new excellent development team who will release new tracks for the game.

By looking at the specs, Xbox has an edge. I like not having to buy memory cards. It's online capabilities is much better that PS2. Pretty much the systems are very close. It more or less comes down to the games that both systems offer. I have both systems, because Gran Turismo is amazing. I'm also a big fan of Halo. I had a dream last night that they cancelled the production of Halo 2. It was a nightmare.

First time I played GT3 at my friends house, I loved the game, then I bought SCGT, a game that was 2 years older for PC. Then I went back to my friends house and was rather bored with the game. Of course now that I have F1C I would rather die than play GT3 (some exaggeration included).

I think GT4 is gonna blow away any racing game ever made. The research involved seems insane. That's why I bought a PS2. I wasn't gonna buy GT3, but I found it used for $9. I figured that will keep me busy while paciently wait for the next one. I was strickly comparing Xbox racing games to PS2. I have no idea about PC racing games. I bet there are a lot of titles that I've never heard of that are great games.

I have both PS2 and Xbox. I have to say that both are great. The graphics are a little better on the Xbox but, the PS2 has better variety of games. Since I am a huge fan of Halo. I cant wait till Halo 2 comes out but I heard It won't come out until September of 2004. Plus the PS2 also has great games such as GTA Vice City, Soul Calibur 2, and soon Gran Turismo 4 is coming out.

GTA 3: Vice City, is available on XBOX, PS2, & PC.

2.it is basically a small computer and w/ all the capabilities of one which PS2 is NOT

6.the revised versions of it dont ever overheat or anything like that, EVER

toca race driver, toca race driver 2, nfs underground, burnout, GTA3 and vice city, sega gt 2002, sega gt online, midtown madness, driver etc etc. are all on xbox.

the only racing game ps2 has that xbox doesnt, is GT series.

xbox obviously has better fps games, (halo, halo 2, half life 2, doom 3, counterstrike, rainbow six 3, return to castle wolfenstein, timesplitters 2.

ps2 obviously has a few rpgs, but xbox has the likes of elder scrolls 3 morrowind, baldurs gate 3, star wars KOTOR, with fable and skudeki both coming out this year.

adventure games?? adventure games are mostly for kids, with the likes of mario on gamecube, and animal crossing (haha!) on ps2.

3rd person action games??

splinter cell, brute force, mechassault, battle engine aquilla, etc. lots of good games there.

i prefer xbox overall. the only game i would play on ps2, is GT3 and 4.

i meant slightly modified as in MGS 2 compared to substance, not PS2 to xbox. and are the graphics actually better on the xbox? i thought it was basically a straight port from the PS2. same physics and graphics engine, everything. even if the visuals are slightly better on the xbox, who cares. how many people go buy a game because of the graphics? better graphics is a bonus, but its not what makes a game good. what it comes down to in the end is gameplay. so no, its not a lot better on the xbox, i still think they are exactly the same graphics wise, but i may be wrong.

and they didnt actually sell a lot on the xbox, it was kind of a flop. ps2 outsold it by a LOT. well, maybe flop is a little harsh, but the sales were nothing compared to PS2.

name all the good PS2 games? that all depends on what your into. me, im a huge metal gear fanatic, so if i gave you a list of all the PS games that i thought were good, they would all start with the words metal gear.

i own 18 different metal gear games. 2 for msx, 1 for famicom, 3 for nes, 6 for PS1, 5 for PS2, and 1 for xbox. thats 11 playable on the PS2 versus 1 on the xbox. that is why i like PS2 way better. if your into shooters, maybe xbox is better for you. if your into racing, maybe PS2 is better. like i said, it all depends on what you like.

i havent seen a game anywhere near as good as ninja gaiden on any system. take a look at the reviews on gamespy, ign and gamespot.

panzer dragoon orta is a brilliant game too.

not to mention that 9 times out of ten, games look better on xbox than any other console. AND you can play on a high res screen.

I don't know about the USA but in Australia console video games take a very long time to depreciate Half price in well over 1 year, if you have the same in US, then PC's are not expensive at all.

i dont know what your definition of a decent pc is, but $500 while buy you the most worthless pile of shit ever. fuck, my videocard alone was more than that. you need at least $1500 for a moderate PC, $2500 for a good one. and you'll never find a 19" for $130. thats not what we pay in the u.s. what you see on the internet is usually half of what we pay retail.

Hmm ok, a $500 PC isn't good, but for $800 you should be able to play most modern PC games fairly well. I checked that monitor again, it's real price is actually $~170 shipped, still much cheaper than you can get it for in my country, yes after conversion. With an $800 pc you'll need to upgrade fairly constantly though. If you get something for $2500 you can upgrade every 2.5 years before it becomes a piece of crap...

BTW, Everything I said was in USD.

I used to have an xbox but I didn't like the games near as much as ps2. ps2 is my favorite hands down.

New game for XBOX will be released, more realistic than Gran Turismo, it's not going to have cars you can mod with new parts, but it will be more realistic, PS2 is too slow nowadays and will not receive this new game. The game is called GTR, based on the European FIA GT 2003 championship. But this game will still be very poor compared to the PC version, which has full damage support, 56 car fields, better graphics than any XBOX or PS2 game (except track reflections and maybe car reflections slightly). Multiplayer support for upto 30 cars on a good server..

Gran Turismo will look like Sega Rally once you play GTR on PC, even on XBOX it will be quite good.

i agree with everything you said about mgs and splinter cell... but xbox does have a couple good exclusive games, such as crimson skies, ninga gaiden.

The only reason i like xbox more than PC... xbox - $150.00 top of the line for at least two more years.
PC - 1000+ (top of the line) its only top of the line for 6 months 8 at the most.

xbox would be so cool if you could get a keyboard and mouse. but once you get used to games with the xbox controller its hard to back to pc (at least for me)

ummmm, crimson skies has been on pc for a long time. but maybe the xbox version is updated, i dont know, havent played the xbox version.

I had my Ps2 for a few months but I couldn't find a good fps so I went back to XBOX and halo.

Crash, wtf? I've had my Xbox for 2 year's and never had a problem.. Well, I needed to replace the DVD drive, which I should get sometime this week. But on the whole "XBOX SUCKS!" thing, How can it suck, It's far superior to the playstation 2. Take a look at Xbox graphic's compared to Playstation 2, PS2 might have better game's but the game's Xbox have are amazing.

Plus you can mod a Xbox a hell of alot more then a PS2, You can rip game's to your HD on the xbox and play them off the HD. And you can turn it into a computer, If you know how.

I should'nt really be bitching since I own all 3 new-age system's. PS2 is fun, GT3, and the new upcoming GT4 is about all I got it for, And I got it for GTA series but they now have it for Xbox. Gamecube.... That was just a waste of money. But I love my xbox, besides having to replace the dvd drive it's my favorite system and has some badass game's, and even better one's to come.

First off I own both a PS2 and an XBox and I haven't really used my PS2 in about 6 months for game, all I ever use it for is a DVD player. So far for Xbox racing games I only have PGR2 and Rallisport 2 and I haven't played or heard of a PS2 game that can even come close to touching these two. Something I will say though is Xbox doesn't even come close to my PC. All that being said if you want a cheap DVD player buy a PS2, if you want a gaming console buy an Xbox and if you want a super gaming system build your own PC for under $1,500 that'll play any game.
