Hey everyone
I am on here for a friend, I personally drive a 1996 3000gt Vr-4. My friend drives a 00 SS, and he wants some simple upgrades to boost performance, so I said I would help him out. I have a few questions though, first I found some intakes on Ebay that I am going to have him get, any other ideas as far as the egine bay goes for performance. Second he wants an exhaust so I told him to go to a local exhaust shop to get one custom made, I was going to have him use 2.5inch piping from the cat back, how does that sound? What I really need to know is how the exhaust is set up with the dual outlet, is it a x pipe thing or is it a y-pipe, does anyone have any diagrams for me to check out, or anything that would help the process. I would appreciate any help I could get, I am a car guy, i just don't know shit about the 3.8l V6 in your guys car.

Thanks
Ben

It's a Y pipe for the exhaust. If you look under his car, you'll see what looks like a long catylitic converter (about 3 ft. long). Guy at a muffler shop told me this is restrictive, so he cut it out, replaced it w/ a standard pipe, plus put the 40 series flowmaster mufflers on for me for only $80. I ordered a regular air intake off ebay for $53 w/ shipping. I'm told the "cold-air" would have only given me about 4 more hp and the $150 extra for it just wasn't worth it if you ask me. That's all I've done to mine. Sounds nice and has some extra get-up to it. Hope this helps some.
