engin cleaning

what is the best way to clean your engin for dirt and grim without messing something up,thinking about washing it at the car wash thanks :icon16:

good degreaser, cover the distributor with something to keep water out, also the throttle body and electrical connections....etc...the hit it wilth the pressure washer.
