I just boutght a 99 eclipse GS with upgrades to the engine like cool air intake greddy headers cat back exaust cant think of the suspension kit name (off the top of my head) full body kit carbon fiber hood and some falken 19" rims. 67000 miles engine sounds great for $8,000. the body kit needs little bit of work and the paint. this seems like to much on the outside for whats under the hood what do you think? and will probably hook the engine up some more. did i make a good choice or should i have bought a stock one and worked from the inside out?
What are your opinions? remember i bought it with all this done to it already and are other some other small things i left out(spark plugs, wires ect.) eventually plan on fixing the cosmetic things after the engine is where i want it. thanks

well personally if i had 8g to put on something i would of found me a gst or gsx. Iv found plenty in good shape with decently low miles for 8k or less in the past month.

as far as the gs you bought, the headers, catback, and cai are pretty simple bolt ons. they prolly had some money in the carbon fiber hood and 19's though. what kit does it have? can you get some pics up? i personally wouldnt of paid 8 grand for a 99 gs though.

read the turbing a rs sticky and definatly read through the read this first sticky to learn answers to a bunch of stuff that gets asked all the time. welcome to the borad.

:iagree:I have to agree with that, but you already bought it, so...what are you worried about now? Just enjoy it:iceslolan, work on it, you have a lot of things to do to it if you have the money "like turbo it!!!!"
Good luck and welcome to AF.

And don't forget to post some pics of your new ride!!!!

well your car basically has a dodge neon motor in it, just like my 96 gs. on the 2g's (95-99) The Eclipse Rs/GS came with the 420a 2.0 dohc (can be found in some dodge neons, dodge avengers, and chrsyler sebrings i think). The tranny and all that good shiz is chrysler too on it. The GST/GSX on the other hand have a complete Mitsubishi driveline including the 4g63T motor. So basically, its all diferent! And you cant swap them either, at least not without a shitload of time and a crapload of money, or vise versa...
There is some good news though, and no I didnt save money on my car insurance.. lol there are two companies that make bolt on turbo kits for your car. the catch is i think there between 2-3k. theres even one place that makes a supercharger kit for it, forgot what that cost i think its over 3k. im not gonna say you got ripped off.. i think gs's are still good cars and fast if you put the right stuff in and on em. Read EclipseRST's thread entitled "Anyone interested in Turboing a Rs/Gs/Esi". He did a writeup on it and theres a whole lot of good usefull info in that thread. If I remember right his Turbocharged Rs (RST) is pullin 12's. Then again hes prolly one of the top experts on the matter....

I dont think you got majorly ripped since its a 99 with 63k, and in the end a non turbo eclipse is better than no eclipse at all... peace

i paid 2gs for my 98 RS stock, and everyone's told me how great a deal that was, i even had a guy offer me 4 for it, he didnt show me the money, but that was the price he suggested, anyway, the rims are prob bout 7,8 hundred by themselves, so i mos def don't think u got ripped, and the mileage, thats great, i would just worry how well its been taken care of.
