Questions on 95 Park Avenue

Ok I'm hoping you guys can give me some insight. I am trying to find out the general reliability of Park Avenues. My mother-in-law is saying that she will sell us her park avenue for $750, it is a 95. I have a 94 Chevy Corsica which is dying (those cars weren't built to last that long, got it in high school). Here's what we were thinking of doing. Buying her car, selling my car to buy her car, trade in the park avenue in March or April (a purchase we had already planned on making), and getting something new or newer. Now the advantage is that the park avenue has a higher trade in value. I had it checked out throught a dealership where a friend works and she got an anonymous ball park figure of $1500-2000 depending on the car. ANYWAY, my poor car is dying. I am thinking of doing this to make it to March or April without anything blowing up. Here's my question...the car from the mother in law has 117000 miles on it. What is the general reliability of these vehicles? Am I going to get another problem vehicle? I know it's hard but my husband swears it has no issues with the vehicle and the grand majority of the miles on it are highway. Anyone here replace a transmission? How many miles did it have?

I've also never had to replace a transmission on any of the Buicks I'm around. Mom's 99 Park ave has 191000 miles, all highway, and it's like new too!

Absolutly, if you get that car for 750 dollars keep it not worth trading it in.. These cars run for 200K plus nicely if you keep them maintained. If it is elderly driven your all set.. They are extremely reliable. My 91 has 108K and races around town strong!
