i am going to get a rb25det very soon but alot of things people are saying make me nervous. i want to know what really is involved in doing this swap, i have read the faq over and then read it again. here are my questions. 1. do you need a custom driveshat(i have heard that it is too long) 2. what do you need to do to clear the steering rack 3. do you need custom tranny mounts / engine mounts 4. will i need new front crossmembers ( Mckinney motorsports sells them), it would be great if someone has done this swap before that could tell me from experience what they did for this swap

5. don't bother unless you know what you are doing. Stick with something made for the car.....try and SR.

You will clear the steering column wih the RB25DET, it's only with the RB26DETT that there is a problem. You need alot of stuff, the kit that McKinney sells in their Sales page has everything you need.

He didn't say anything about clearing the steering column. He said steering rack.

i have also heard that its better to go for the rb25det rather than the rb26dett because in some cars the twin turbo doesnt fit and so has to be replaced which of course will cost even more money. i know thats the case with the s15, im sure the same would aplly with 240's

I know you guys like the SR, but I can't get my self to agree on swapping a 4cyl just to swap another 4cyl. I get if you are only looking for 300hp-400hp, which you could get with a KA-T, I would rather get the I-6, loose the TT and swap a single T, anyway, get the engine you will be satisfied, if you think you want gobs of power, just start out with the RB instead of going through the hassle twice.

The RB20 is too freaking heavy for the HP gain to be worthwhile. I would much rather have an SR20 in a car that light than an RB20.

yeah but its still an inline six, and i could get it up to the horsepower of a rb25, with a few upgrades, but i still would like to know if i will have the same problems with a rb20 as i would with a rb25

500cc of displacement will make a world of difference. RB25 gets my vote. Talk to Dekand. He has a RB25 swap and try some forums that are about the RB swaps. www.megalla.com
