If you have stinky white smoke out of the tailpipe, you're dumping coolant (most likely a blown head gasket).
Check your oil to see if there's water in it.

U sure the choke is stuck open ? Or closed ? A closed choke can make white / blue smoke. Check the choke pulloff valve, maybe. Does the smoke go away after the engine warms up ?

A stuck choke would create black smoke (excessively rich mixture)

Tommy,
Yes, I know that is the classic scenario, but when I had a rotted out choke pulloff valve, and my choke was stuck on (rich) for a few minutes after startup, until the electric choke took over, I was getting bluish white smoke, I kid you not. The mechanics were telling me it was worn out rings, and that I was burning oil, but it was the choke pulloff valve, in my case.

Wow. I had the blue/white smoke at start-up since the car was a couple months old. Oil was getting into the chambers somehow but since it was minor, I left it alone.
I gotta check the choke pull-off.
Anyway, as Allegretto describes his problem, it looks like it could also be a blown head gasket. One of those can make a car look like it's an insect fogger.
Keep us in the loop and let us know what you find out.

If you do have a bad head gasket, you may also have a higher idle speed. That could be why you think you have a choke problem. As Tommy SS stated, check your oil for traces of coolant, and check your coolant for traces of oil.
