Valve Cover

How do you remove a valve cover for a 2002 G20. Is there a proper order? Also, how tight do thebolt/nut have to be when you replace the cover:confused:

There is a proper order for both removal and installation, IIRC. Also, i think you have to tighten them to one spec, all in the right order, then go back and tighten them again, also in the right order.

Buy yourself a factory shop manual. That will tell you the exact order, and the exact tightness the bolts need to be.

Does anybody have a service manual for a 2002/2001 g20?

It should be the same between any of the G20's, as I don't think the valve cover bolt pattern changed at all. I don't have access to mine right now, otherwise i'd post it.

Remove the valve cover bolts in this order

11 4 8 6 9
1 13 2
10 3 7 5 12

Install with this pattern

11 6 2 4 8
12 1 9
13 7 3 5 10

STEP 1: Tighten bolts 1 - 10 - 11 - 13 - 8 in that order
Step 2: Tighten bolts 1 - 13 in that order 8-10 Nm (0.8-1.0 kg-m, 69 - 87
in-lb)

Well I copied that directly from the 1999 G20 FSM. So it's a little more than preference. :p

This could be the older generation motor...this guys car is a sentra se-r I believe....kind of like the P10 motors

I know that guy, Naji. He's a little flakey and he drives a 98 SE-R. Same as the 1999 G20. I'm sure either way is fine.

Well, my P10 FSM doesn't have the same steps as Naji's writeup, so that rules that idea out. ALthough, my FSM doesn't show the same steps as Jason's FSM, go figure? this is the loosening order.

To tighten:

11 6 2 4 8
12 1 9
13 7 3 5 10

BTW, this probably won't look correct, so move the 13 and the 1 to the center, of the center row and then the 5 and the 9 to the far right of the center row.
