I blew my stock motor in a 1997 cavalier and im looking to put a new one in. What is the Biggest or fastest motor with the most potential to upgrade that I can put in this car.

You can put any motor in any car, providing you have time and money.

well if u wanna stick to the cavalier engines... i'd recomend either a Z24 or the new eco tec engines.

I guess the Z24 would be the 2.4 liter. If you have a lot of money and some significant resources, get your hands on a 3.8 liter V6 out of a Monte Carlo or Grand Prix. They fit with a little bit of subframe modification.

how much does a 3.8 v6 go for and how hard is it to mod the sub frame

It would probably end up costing you over $5k to put a 3.8 in. Not to mention insanely hard.

i agree with Kustmace....but...i have seen the 3.8 turbo charged and its a jaw dropper...let alone it was in a grandprix mind you... but it ate almost everything at the track that night...lost to a viper,sTI, vette....

3.1/3.4 V6s fit better. If it were my car, I'd go with a 2.4 TwinCam. You can put an Eco in a pre-2002 car, but you run into some wiring issues.
