Ok on Oct 15, 2004 I will be 17, a year after I got my permit. What I want to know is, what are some good tips I should know, and how to reduce stress and nervousness? I will be getting it on a Friday, so i will have a nice long weekend to look forward to. I took 3 driving lessons back in may to reduce insurance but i think they have worn off. Im still looking for a small car, because my friends volvo 240 might not be fixed by then. I know to keep both hands at 10 and 2 and not lean on the door. But for the times i could have driven I didn't. I may have developed some bad habits by now. I would like to take another driving lesson by the test, to get rid of these. How long should you stop at a sign? How fast should you go during the test? Thanks for all your help.

for the test, let the car jerk back a little bit at stops and sit there for like 15 seconds at a dead stop or they'll fail you. don't go ANY more than the posted speed limit. you might be able to get away with 5 over, but i wouldn't risk it. just pretend the guy in the seat next to you is a cop...don't do anything you wouldn't want a cop to see

i think 15sec is a lil much...

i thought it was like 3 seconds, and too make sure i tell him to put his seatbelt on, and put the blinker on when making a 3pt turn

the way i look at it, the longer you wait the better. and an extra little hint, if there's a car coming and you have to turn, be patient if it's gonna be close. just wait and then go like normal...don't jump on the gas.

and those other 2 things you brought up are good too

3 seconds at the stop sign is fine...remember when you were a little kid, learning to cross the street...look right, left, then right again.

Use your signals, keep both hands on the wheel, buckle up.

Don't rush anything, slow is better than fast, take your time.

Don't turn on the radio...don't run yellow or red lights.

Check your blind spots.

Practice parallel parking and 3pt(k) turns.

That's about it. If you are confident, and know your stuff and just take your time, you'll do fine.

i remember waiting for about 3 seconds and the instructor said " you can go already" in a angry voice. i thought it was hilarious cause everyone told me to wait. but stay calm, it aint that bad

what state are you in? in OH you don't have to but you have to do the manuverability test which pretty much involves driving both directionns between a couple cones.

here in washington you gotta parallel park and back around a corner. I drove my parents Lexus and it helped because i got 100 on my test!

That's crazy...Got to try keep up with the traffic flow, but the dumb a** in the front just won't go... And the guys in the highway just won't let you go into the lane...
I mean, my car is definitely capable to keep up with the traffic whenever I want to, but those people just won't cooperate...And I almost failed the test because of this, even I parked perfectly...
