Hey, what would be the definiton of a better throttle body? Does that mean bigger? or what? I have a 99 3.8l firebird. What would be best for it? would i have to change anything on the car before putting a "better" throttle body on?

Better as in...? You can either port and polish your own to smooth things up a bit (smoother airflow) or buy a larger aftermarket. If you have a dremel (and the patience) you can do your own. Otherwise, do a Yahoo search for 'aftermarket throttle body'. Shaner (shaner.com?) has some nice ones, but a bit on the expensive side. You get what you pay for.

What would be involved in port and polishing the throttle body? Is it just basically grinding away the sludge build up and cleaning it up, or is it more complicated than that?

there's a small 'lip' just before the TB blade. Port/polish grinds down the small lip and slightly increases airflow. Definately clean it too!
