Damn it sounds like a distributor problem. Does it pass 3000 rpm? If it doesn't...then for sure its bad. Also you might want to check the spark plugs and the wires. Also it could be a clogged cat?

Maybe your cat will cough up a hairball or smoke. :)

sounds like a timing issue. you spent alot of money no stuff that wasnt relavnt... wish I had the money to do that.

That could be it. Maybe when you installed the distributor ...you messed up the timing. Get that checked also.

kinda sounds like your rotor is loose.

mine was horrindusly tight, stripped out the head even though I was using the security bit, ended up having to drill it out.

will it could stay at 3000 if u getly step on the gas..but it cant relly stay tat long tho...if u step on the gas hard then the rpm drops and sometimes my motor die..wut can cost if u hear poping nose from ur intake manafo when u all the way step on the gas pedal..when we bought the engine it doesnt came with the distributor..we went and got a distributor from a freind (its an hf crx)..my freind car is running tat time also..we started it and the timeing was off by two or three lines..(is tat okay, and can tat be the reason)..does the timeing need to be rite on the mark..we took my car to the dealers and they say its my fuil injecter pulgs from my wire harness..we change are wire harness three times with new ones and it still does the same thing..anyone help..

Yo just check out what we told you. Did you even try it out yet? Check the rotor to see if its on tight. I'm pretty sure the popping noise isn't coming from the manifold. CHeck the SPARK PLUGS. Then set the timing at whatever the stock time is at.

if the timing is off it could be backfireing though the manifold. If the rotor is tight, swap the the spark plug wires around with the one directly accross from it (side with the other side one, top one with the bottom one), your timing may be 180* off.
