close call with the fuel rail...

Well, my 95 has been fixed under the recall after one of my fuel lines burst. I still hadn't gotten my notice, but at least it was in the dealer's computer for my vin#.
I had no warning whatsoever- I dropped my son off at daycare, went to a hardware store for some plunder, and came out to a split fuel line. It was really spewing a lot of gas out too. I shut it off and had AAA tow me to a Chevy dealer who fixed 'er all up. They even offered to pay for the tow truck.
That just really freaked me out in the 5 seconds where I was thinking 'wow, something smells like gas... oh crap! thats MY car!'

Wow, I'll bet that tests the ol' ticker, huh? Good thing no ignition source or the fuel didn't hot enough. I had an employee that wasn't so lucky, and it was pre recall as well. Total loss. Glad you had better luck.
Can I ask why you didn't have the recall repaired b4?

I had it in to that same dealership just a couple of months ago. I think it was late July or early August. They looked up the VIN# and said it didn't have any open recalls on it. I don't think they started sending out notices on the 95s until September sometime.
I just figured I don't have a problem (yet, obviously...) so I'll wait 'till I get notice in the mail.
It's weird though- my new setup looks different than what some have described. On the end before everything goes under the engine cover, I've got plastic lines with some goofy looking metallic foil looking wrappers rather than SS with plastic insulator wraps. I've been frantically house painting before the snow starts flying, so I haven't even taken off the cover yet. It doesn't leak, which is a drastic improvement over last week. I'll have to post some pics and see if I got the right stuff.
