Clunking Noise When Turning

I have a 1962 Chrysler 300 with 90,000 miles. When I turn at low speeds I can hear a sort of rapid clunking sound in front of the firewall on the driver's side. It seems to be more pronounced when I turn right. I think it's related to the steering. The car steers fine but I only hear the noise when turning and only on the left side. Any ideas on what it is, how I can diagnose it, or a good fix? Thanks.

Jack the front end up and try to wiggle the tire on horizontal axis. If it wiggles, look for messed up ball joints.

Or it could use some new cv boots.

Worn lower ball joints are not tested in this way.
One jacks the car up on the lower control arm, until the tire is about an inch off the ground. Then slide a pry par under the wheel and lift. Look at the lower ball joint and see if there is any movement.
As for everything else, when its jacked up, wiggle the tire horizontally and vertically and look for any loose movement in the steering linkage and the upper ball joint.
Your problem, as descibed is typical for worn/broken wheel bearings
