91 1g slow?

hey my 91, 2.0 non turbo fwd seems kind of sluggeshi and it has a rumble while down shifting the rumble is around 3,000 4,000 is there any easy fixes to make it more zippy with out dooing the big stuff dont want to install a turbo just yet and dont want to get into using anything larger than a 17mm wrench.. owe and is there maybe a better cam sensor im just looking for ideas to make my 1g much faster its allready got the bottom cut out of the mass air sensor .... cool, thank you

do a tune up. air filter/spark plugs and wires toss some fuel injector cleaner in the next time you fill your gas tank
