im trying to find a dohc ka24de from a 240sx into my 89' (sohc), i have pig plans for this motor so i need it to be strong with low miles but this is very hard to find when looking at 14-10 year old cars, but i noticed that alot of altima motors were for sale for like 500 bucks and they were mostly from 01 altimas, my question is can i put this motor into the car and get a 240 wiring harnes and transmissin and all that fun stuff to hook up to it? or would that just be to much work?

What are you going to do with the car? im guessing drags since altima motors arent really for drifting. If you want to go both drift and drag go rb20det

The Altimas used the KA in DOHC form only. The KA Altimas were produced until 2001, so if you play your cards right, you might be able to find a relatively new one.

the Altima engine is alittle different. the distributer is on the back of the engine instead of the front. also the KA24DE is also found in the non super charged 4 cylinder nissan frontier and xterra.

what you need to do is find someone with a 95-98 240SX that is planing to do an SRor RB swap and buy the engine fom them after they do it.

i personaly would never go with a rb20det, 1 .they are hella expensive 2. its a hella lot of work to get it to fit 3. they are hella heavy (i think superstreet said like 800 pounds more than an sr20det) 4. all replacement parts are hella expensive 5. NOBODY knows how to work on them in the states.
i think that covers it, sorry for the excesive hella useage but i havent said it in awile and i felt like it in this.

rb20det's are not that much more than sr's and are definately worth the money. They are easier than the other rb swaps and eats sr's on straights, also it doesnt affect steering that much compared to the rb25 & rb26..read the faqs man
