Hi,
I juts got my 2002 Bravada (TB twin) and towed my 3800 lb. Travel trailer for 450 miles. I only got 12 miles per gallon! Does that sound right?
Can I get a few replies on what your mileage is with similar weight? I really thought it would be around 16 miles per gallon at worst! I am very dissapointed.
Any other thoughts are appreciated! Thanks. ....Tony

I towed my 19ft bayliner from chicago to arkansas a few weeks
ago to go on a fishing trip. I averaged 10 to 11 miles per gallon!
Spent approx. 90.00 in gas one way. This is the second trip I have taken with my boat with the same results. I have a 03 trailblazer with about 15,000 miles on it. Doing regular driving around I have been getting at the most 16 miles per gallon , sometimes less! Am I disappointed, hell ya. I hoped for much better.

My 02 gets 16-17 around town and 20 on the highway. If I pull my 22 foot fiberglass boat and try to drive 70-75 mph I can get as low as 9 mpg. If I slow down to 65 it stays at 11-12. My 20 foot alluminum boat lets me get 15-16 at the same speed. I just came back from a 3000 mile road trip in Colorado and averaged 20.43 for the entire trip.

12mpg sounds about right. I tow a trailer fully loaded with 3 quads and all gear ~2500#'s and average around 10-13mpg towing in 3rd gear @65mph turning ~2600rpms.
Thanks Chris

Aww Crap; I just guess I over-estimated the MPG's. It's my first SUV and I'm used to getting 25-28 on the hiway with my Chevy Venture minivan.

Here is the kicker to your dilemma. I recently read a technical review of the TB. The posted mileage 15/21 on the sticker are the numbers that were estimated when tested with a standard equipment Trailblazer. The standard TB has a 3:73 rear end ratio. The EPA does not require that these numbers be changed with any optional equipment installed. The TB equipped with the towing package has a 4:10 rear end ratio which severely affects the projected MPG. I also have crappy mileage which is why I searched for this info. I guess that is the price we pay for having the most powerful mid-size SUV on the market.
