Hello all,

Newby here seeking some advice.

Bought a 1994 Firebird V6 on ebay, for $1900, body and interior looks fine, but needs a lot of work.

The ABS and air bag lights are on, the automatic transmission slips, the power steering leaks oil real bad, the radiator fan does not switch on, left window out of track, one headlight motor not working and don't know what else I'll find. It was advertised as a good runner with only freeway miles! Obviously I got caught.

Is it worth fixing this baby up, or should I try and dump it?

Trade it in. I traded for a car one time and there never drove it and barley looked at it.

Haha if it were me, i'd try to fix it. It wont be cheap, but you can still get youre money's worth as apposed to going and buying a whole new car, if its bad it should'nt be more than a few thousand dollars. at least i think. im kind of a newb to, but still dude, turn that scrap metal into something nice, wax it up.

Just do it one thing at a time! Least you don't have a blown head gasket or cracked block. Those are semi-minor...and I'd fix it...but it depends on your money situation and if you are mechanicallyinclined...Labor costs are a bitch!

The same thing happen to me like a year ago I was in the market for a second car and bid/won a 93 Formula which was listed in excellent condition with just a ding is the rear quarter panel. Well after I win I give the guy a deposit and fly to Florida to drive my new car home well I have never seen anything like this the passenger side of the vehicle was beat to hell and mssing paint. The dash was cracked in a million pieces with chunks missing. The check engine light was on as well as the air bag light and the engine had a knock. Well to try to make this long story short I said I'm not taking it he said I'm keeping your deposti and paypal gave me my deposit back but I was out the air fare from NJ round trip and had to go stand by. And when I got back home I looked on ebay and found my current Formula the Next town to me and was mint. So it is hit or miss. Just make sure you have alot of pictures of the complete car and it has a been checked by a mechanic you trust.

the abs and air bag are prob just blown fuses, check your fuse box. the head lght motor is about 150 bucks down here but installing it is a real pain in the butt. the mirror can be re-placed into its orogional position, just unscrew the door panel and sit it back where its soposed to go. the electric fan prob has a short in the wire, attach it to the car battery directly and see if t turns on. if it does, then check your car's temp sensor and wiring. if it doesnt turn on, all u need to do is replace it, fans arent expensive. if the tranny slips, flush it, rebuild it and it should be fine. and when u say slip do u mean it is late on changing gears or it grinds or doesnt move the car or what?
