Local Show II

Here's a little coverage for a show I attended today while LSU routed an unexpectedly bad Mississippi State team. The show was small, and I should have gotten more pictures. There were probably 30 or so cars there, plus as many airplanes and armour. It's an all-genre sort of show, related to the IPMS somehow. There are all levels of skill there, from newb to me to freakin' master, and though the selection is limited there is always something there that makes me want to cry. Anyway, here are some hot cars that I saw there and wanted to share. I must apologize now, the lighting was poor, so these pictures are the best I could do with my crummy camera.
Here is a Merc that (I think) won the custom class. It's beautiful, the paint is deep enough to wade through. I feel that's sort of out of scale, but man, you can't deny how amazingly beautiful this car was. It was amazing. My picture doesn't do it justice at all, sorry.

This was my favorite car there. It was unique, beautiful, had perfectly chosen design cues and was just marvelously executed. I feel it should have won the class, and best in show, but we all have our opinions. The color is impossibly deep and dark, highlighting ever so subtly. You can almost catch it in the pics, but really, you have to see it in life.

You can see my green Hilux in the background, it won first in Off road/trucks, which had only a handful of models.
This was just so cool that I had to take a picture of it and share it. I want to build one too! I love it. This one and the one pictured above got second and third places in the custom class, but I'm not sure which got what. Oh well. They both beat my S2000 fastback, but these guys did hella lot more work than I did.

This was built buy a guy that I met there that has some unorthodox methods, but they work really well. He has some serious talent and I tried to turn him on to this place, hopefully I'll get to see some more buy him. Don't let this one fool ya, he does some tuners too, but this is the pic I chose to share.

And here is the shocker of the day:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v417/willimo/WTFmate.jpg
My (dare I say) incomplete Lotus 7 that I took just because I couldn't contain myself won first in the Street Machine 1949-present class. Holy crap! There was some stiff competition in that class, too, probably the biggest amont automotive, with more than a dozen cars. I couldn't freakin' beleive it! The paint is far from perfect and there is a lot of engine detail still missing. But I won't argue. My black, Mugen S2000 actually won second in this class, too, so in all I about shat myself. And something could be said about biases at the show; my Lotus won the class, but they misspelled it: Lotas! Oh well. Too much love. Thanks for looking! And I hope the builders don't mind me posting their cars!

Congrats on the winnings Will. The lotus looks spectacular. I'd have to like to see the fastback win something. Oh well, next time huh?

Congratulations on your 1-2 finish! You talk so bad about your lotus. Bad paint, unfinished details, but man that thing is sexy! But most of all it is unique. 10/10 from where im sitting. Although I am suprised about the fastback. I think that is one of your finest builds.
