overheated and died

93 escort overheated and died. Restarted after 5 min. and died again. Now won't start. Got spark. Oil o.k. Cranks but won't start. Any safty cutoffs that may have tripped? I already checked the fule cut off switch.
1.9 liter engine.

no, the valve seat probably didn't drop!!! That is a rare case, and My Mechanic should know! Anyway, the head probably warped beyond moving. Trust me, my friends did the same thing. It's a Aluminum head, when it gets too hot, the thing isn't any better off than throwing a aluminum can in a volcano. Replacing the head isn't easy, pocket-wise, but if you have the right tools, it is easy to do yourself, (torque wrench, Impact wrench, gasket scraper, etc...)

Any time a Escort head (CVH) is over heated there is a chance the valve seat can drop.
When the head over heats, it warps. Now picture twisting a ice cube try, what happends when the tray is warped? The ice cubed pop out..just valve seat's in a warping head.

Okay, when it cranks over, do you hear a wicked metal crunching noise, if you do, then call me stupid, if not just listen to me....
Now take your basic mechanics. If the nut is torqued on the valve seat at the right setting, the only way that thing is going to "pop" out is if it breaks. The things would have to be hot as hell to break. have you ever tried to cut one of those things with a regular torch, (like a real constuction grade)? It took me a Argon torch to get a good heat to break the things!
