4000 watts ? that's a LOT of power

well the subs are going to be 3000 of that and yes, that is alot of power.

then you've obviously never seen a well rounded 3-way setup. i highly doubt he's running a set of 6 1/2 comps with 3000 watt sub stage or that would sound like complete shit

ok, well if the only thing you can hear is bass, that means the system sucks and will sound horrible. it doesn't matter if the bass is clear and crisp if thats the only thing you hear. IMO 3000 watts is too much because sub-bass shouldn't really be heard but felt, and it should be very subtle. about 90% of the "bass" in music is mid-bass, with the low-end rumble from the subs.
going active on a three-way setup will easily take up alot of power: 200-250 per midbass, 100-150 on mids, and 75-100 on tweets.

ahh, makes sense. ive never heard a 3000 watt sub stage accept compitetion set-ups which is ALL bass anyway. seems pretty rediculous.....

ha ha ha, yeah it is a little rediculus, i think i might just go with one 15" at 2000 rms, but i dont know.

the power the sub needs bepends on the sub (of course) .... when I get around to redoing the crx, I probably put one 15" brahma back there with appx 1500 watts.

it's very good, one of the lowest distortion, high output supersubs available today. It has an XBL^2 (eXtreme BL Linearity) motor, which basically means it has virtually zero BL distortion throughout its entire excursion range. This technology was invented by Adire, and it has been licensed out to several other companies (including RE, it's used in their XXX sub, and the RE and XXX component sets).
Basically it can take gobs of power (even though it's pretty efficient, it doesn't need all that much power, it will typically hit full excursion with less than 1000rms), it can get very loud, especially if you port it, and it's virtually distortion-free until you hit the mechanical limits of the sub, which is very very far out there. www.acoustic-visions.com has pricing

it's very comparable to the JL audio 13W7 .... at probably half the cost
Haibane
10-02-2004, 11:36 PM
well not really... if you look around you can get a 13w7 for about the same cost
sr20de4evr

Where can you get a new 13w7 for $440 shipped? Even on ebay you can't find them for under $600 shipped normally, and that's without a warranty at all, the Brahma comes with a 3 year warranty.

I saw them on ebay for about 400... no warranty, you are right.
