I personaly think the new Thunderbirds are quite disgraceful. Ford should of a least put the Cobra's supercharged 4.6L rather than the pitiful 3.9L that cranks out 280HP. The new "retro" look is straight out hideous and makes it look like a grandpa car.

unfortunately that was ford's target market.. they wanted to make a car for people that grew up with the original 55-57, but couldn't afford a resto'd original. so they made a new car that reflected the history of the original...

if the 83-97 tbird never existed, then the 03-04 bird is a wonderful looking car, but look what they went from in 97, to what the 03 is. two completely different cars that share the same nameplate.

My dad got one as soon as they came out, and I have to admit - it's a great looking car and a lot of fun to drive. But as 8ate8 said, they are 2 different cars, and there's not much of a comparison aside from the nameplate.

I agree with you though, I would have liked to see a more muscular car come out, but oh well - it could have been much worse. Look what happened to the once mighty Monte Carlos, Malibus, etc.!

I don't like them, I think they should have just kept the mn12 style they were some great looking cars.

Maybe they will rerelease the mn12 style(lol)

Hey Top-of-the line Monties and Impalas arnt that bad...although Supercharged 6-shooters will never be better then V-8 power ,It is a shame that Chevy turned these once powerful muscle cars into weak family sedans....Even the old Impala SS's(5.7 LT-1's) had a weak HP rating of only 245HP...What we need is bad-ass domestic 400-500HP family saloons that can challenge the German sport sedans.

The new cars, by this i mean ALL new cars are looking worse every year-period. Everything is aero this aero that, 10 airbags, 1/2 inch thick tires, gay ass spinning rims, suv's suv's suv's (in which most stuck up rich bitch housewives drive-you know the type that have that constant 10 and 2 position-i hate that, unless of coarse shes hott :-) jap car this, korean car that, RWD's changed over to FWD family grocery getters, supercharged v6, turbo 4 cyl.... oh, did i mention the PT Cruiser is a POS.. Even the new so called "muscle cars" lack what some old timers would refer to as BALLS.

Ok, i left off alot, i mean lots of cars are beauties out there... I wish i owned one :-)

I think the new thunderbirds are neat... but neat isnt much of a word. They're fast, sure, but yea they look grampy.. I wouldnt buy one. Its a shame they abandoned the MN12 so they could go retro.. They should make a good 20,000 or so SVT t birds with 350 stock horsepower, 18 inch rims, and a cross between the 97 sport, and 93 SC... and they should make it a tuner... thats MY wet dream. I will never buy a new car in my life.. Im gonna keep my t bird and if I can afford a new car, then Ill just put that much money into my baby. Me and my t bird are a lifetime match.

i mean i heard the engines in the new ones (3.9L) is nothing to mess with, and i've seen a pretty fast new bird while i was in clevland. But they just seem overpriced and they dont even look that nice, bodywise style, i just think ford made a mistake bringing back the retro look.

I think the old school look is cool, but retro is something else. The new t birds are "old person" looking, and yea, i agree, overpriced. Its just a v8. The interior of them is really nice, but damn, theyre what like $50,000? more for the red and yellow since they made less... seriously, its not a fuckin benz!! its just a 2 seater with a v8. what a waste of an idea I think. They need to do more old school like the new mustangs... those are bad ass.

Will ford "soup" them up for there 50th anniversary? you would think they would being an "american classic" as everyone calls them.
i think the new ones are pretty sharp, i wish they bring back the 62 sport roadster, that would be sweet.
