I have 95 eclipse and I had cassete radio I ordered cd payer from 98 eclipse and installed it, the cd player powers on and there are lights and you can swith am/fm tape, you can put in cd and out but there is no sound, the one that was in my car originaly cassete radio works fine it has a sound. What could be the problem with cd player, there is no fuses behind the cd player?

You didn't connect the speakers... There was an internal amp you didn't know about?

Sounds to me like the output IC got blown on the cd player. Its the chip that amplifies sound. If you know how to solder and desolder, open up that tape deck and the cd deck, desolder the biggest chips in them, they are usually the ones with the big heatsincs on them, usually toward the rear, or side of the deck, and swap them if the numbers on them are the same. Make sure you have no solder bridges between points that shouldnt have them, b/c this will cause your good chip to blow also. good luck.

I am wondering is there an amp in your car you didn't know about, which you might have not connected...

the cd player that i bought came with amp and I can connect it to my car,(thats what I did i forgot to tell you this and I dont know if its imortant..) here is what i did I toke original radio off put the "CD payer" and when I was puting the new one in the car was in ACC because I had to move the shift so that i have space to put the cd in, and when i was munting the cd player it it turned on and off maybe 5 times in 10 seconds becaus when I was puting it in it tuched the ground...I dont know if this may coused it also, but anyway after I did all that I also connected the AMP that camed with it and I put that in, then :) i had to go get cd code from the dealer becaouse it was locked, and :) then i was hoping to rock and roll but no sound just like i said up there I tried with and wihout the amp but dont work, the old cassete player works with and without the amp but when i put the amp in I dont hear any difference in sound??? i dont care about amp i just want the cd player to work.

I am 100% sure that your problem is a blown output IC, what model deck is it? Sometimes you can get lucky, and get off with the chip only costing you 20 bux, other times its 60 or more. Reply back with the deck type, and I'll give you a pic of what to unsolder.

OK thanks, i didnt see your post till today, anyway I will give you all the numbers on the radio, I dont know what dect type is. but the radio is Infinty it has cd, am/fm, tape,

model number MR225577, the other numbers are
RZ-5U65CwYD-2 34W0079
MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC
12V NEG. GROUND

SERIAL NUMBER:72249093 A

I opened it up the other day and I was looking at some of those thing on the back and I also have multimuter but im not suro how that looks there is so many things on there, anyway let me know ASAP.

if there is a big huge chip, maybe an inch by a half an inch, with like 30 little prongs coming off, and its got a big huge heatsync on it, that be your bitch. I take back my previous post, swapping them probably wouldnt be a good idea, unless the numbers on them are exactally the same. Once you get it out, go to mouser.com, or electronicsic.com, and buy one. Solder it in, and there you go. Any questions?

can you borrow a friend's headunit and swap it out?

I dont get it..... I mean swapping the chips inside the decks, on the actual pcb boards, not the decks themselves. If he has sound with one deck, and not the other, I'm almost 100% sure its a blown output IC. I really cant tell you much more unless I know the model number off the infinity cd deck. All I can say is they are usually towards the rear of the unit after you remove the cover, and sometimes on the sides. As I said, they have a big heatsinc, therefore are towards the outside of the circuit board.

which is why I want him to test if one has sound and the other doesnt

I found one thing and its like you said located on the back of the radio and there is also the wire connector on that peice of board where the thing that you described is, the board disconects from the radio and ther is a thing that looks like a small transformer and it has small wire wraped around it its about 1/2 of inch<<<is that the thing that your talking about. i tried to do oms on it and it beeped I dont know maybe i didnt check it good, anyway does that sound like the piece?

no, there should be no piece of wire coming from this chip, you are probably checking an inductor, which will beep, perfecatlly normal. Here is a pic of what an output IC usually looks like. http://www.electronicsic.com/P_TA8268HS.htm
keep in mind this one is NOT going to work in yours, you need to go to that site, and click on semiconductor at the top, and find yours, order it, and solder it in.

If you got a deck that is infinity then there is a amp you also need that goes under the passenger side seat. This would be why you are not getting any sound. No internal amp in the deck you are trying to install?
