Well if you hit a deep puddle then you'll be sucking up the water in your engine. It'll seize. AEM has that bypass to fit on your intake (it has to be a 2pc.) that fits between the pipes.

Use a K&N filter and KEEP IT OILED WELL. That will help reduce water getting through.

What is said is that 7/8 or something like that of ur filter could be submurged under water and it still wont hyrdolock. Rain is like tossing pebbles at a boxer and saying it will knock him out to ur intake. IMO buying a bypass valve is a complete waste of money unless u are those kinda of ppl that like to chance crossing lake michigan with ur car.

Yeh its a waste of money if you're living in AZ! I wish it would just rain! Seriously, i've had a cold air intake and i never had problems with it. Even in the rain, i just avoid the huge puddles. Chicago weather sucks.

Lived in Atlanta and had my cold air intake for over a year without any issues. Just don't drive through deep puddles and VERY IMPORTANT - make sure your fender well and plastic guards/covers are firmly secured and correctly in place. The plastic covers are what keep the water from drenching your filter.

Supposedly you'll lose like 1-2 hp but its not much of a sacrafice.

probably less than 1 hp actually, an intake is lucky tif it gains you 2 hp in the first place.
