Ever had some one do this? In any way? I'm sure you have... Well here's my little story for the night. It kinda pissed me off (But not enough to belong in stress release).
I enter my room to find that some one has apparently done me the favor of removing the trash, along with one or two empty sprite cans my lazy ass left on my desk. I was a little confused as to why they moved some, but left two others sitting there, one with a dent in it. I inspected the suspect cans and found them to contain a small amount of long flat sprite. Thinking nothing of it I slovenly pushed them aside and sat down for a little bit of AF, mIRC and then I was off to GTA3 which I had rented from Blockbuster earlier that night. I checked my cable modem and found that the lights remained dorment and that ment the cable guy hadn't been here... AGIAN!! But thats another thread. I reluctently brought up windows Dialup Networking connection labled SCRTC and typed in my password. I hit enter, nothing... So I pushed the connect button and all was well. My modem started its little humming, beeping and then the rawkus noises of connecting. Soon it returned the classic "Cannot establish dialup networking connection with the computer you have dialed" error and clicked. I closed the screen, brought it back up and started typing in my password. It was then I noticed that it lacked the proper number of characters. I had spotted my problem and typed it a slower to ensure that I hit all the proper keys. However it was then that I encountered problems. As I pressed the backspace key to erase my previous entry, nothing happened... So I highlighted the whole thing and pressed delete... Nothing. Well I was a bit confused but I then pressed CTRL-X to just hurry up and get rid of it so I could connect. I began typing, after a few letters I pressed the E key... No matching asterisk... I pressed several other keys on various places on the key board, agian no asterisk... I then opened Word and went across the keyboard. 17 keys failed to respond. So I broke out the microdriver and took apart my keyboard, when I was removing the funny little nipple covered plastic sheet, somthing wet touched my fingers. It still didn't register. I looked about on it and found that there was strange disscoloration to some of the little circuts on the plastic sheet. Then it dawned on me, I touched the liquid and found it to be sticky. I looked up to the dented Sprite can, from there to my keyboard and then back to the can. I felt about on my desk and encountered several more sticky patches. A little annoyed I broke out a rag and some compressed CO2. I cleaned and dried it off and put it back togather. The keys still didn't work. In the end it had apparently sat there for a several hours and corroded my circuts and ruined my keyboard. This made me very angry, so I made my way into my room-mates room and took his keyboard and replaced it with mine. Problem solved :D

That sucks. First off, why can't people leave stuff alone, and second, if there was a good reason for someone to be on your computer and they messed up, why couldn't they just have said, "Hey man, sorry but I spilled on your keyboard, here's $___ to replace it."
I hate too when I go into my office at work, sometimes I find that someone will have helped themselves to my pens, post-it notes, or empty boxes I have beside my shelf used for filing cancelled checks  The worst for me is when a certain male co-worker uses my office when I am gone and the next time I use my phone it smells like his cheep cologne! UGH!!!!! I keep alcohol and cotton swabs in my office now and just clean everything when I return from being off.

yeah, last year my little cousins were over and I used to let them play with my steering wheel for my playstation. well apparently one day when I wasn't there someone (probably my cousins) spilled milk on it and someone wiped it off (probably my mom). the next time I sat down to play Icouldn't figure out why it acted funny and didn't control for crap. so I took it apart and found dryed crusty stuff on the inside My first thought milk I cleaned it a couple of times but never got it working right again it was like $50 and no one ever told me who spilled milk on it or who wiped it up. Christ, you'd think at least my family would be honest with me

Yuck, crusty milk :(
The funny thing is apparently at some point after spilling the sprite, they decided it would be "Ok" to just leave it plugged in...

i have a similar story, but the results didnt have any damage
i remember when i was in college going to class, and coming back.. fire up netscape, maximized and went to the course page for an economy class or something
1: i NEVER maximize my browser window, i hate maximized windows :)
2: i wasn't taking any economy classes (and i had netscape to start up with the last page visited since there were several sites that i visited repeatedly and couldn't choose which to make the home page :D)
well.. that computer has a keyboard lockout (like an actual LOCK on the case) that locks the kb, and the mouse
after that day i locked my computer whenever i left for more than ~30 mins
i dont mind people using my stuff
but christ ASK
dont help yourself (unless i say up front you can use it :D)

i had a friend who worked a the local university (ASU) and a professor brought in hs ibm thinkpad that the university was loaning to him for his work.
his daughter was typing on it the night before...
she was sick...
sick enough...
to puke all over it...
what did the professor do?
closed the laptop- puke and all- and returned it to the IT department and asked for a new one.
UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH- AND WHO'S PAYING FOR THAT LAPTOP FROM A PUBLIC UNIVERSITY??????
everyone in the state.
