My first race!

The other day, I was driving to my aunts house when I found a friend at a red light. He was in a toyota tacoma and I was in my civic. He revved his engine and I revved back. I knew the truck had more torque so I knew that my 100 hp and 90 ish ft/lb torque engine could not beat the little pick up. As I saw the green light turn yellow on the crossing street I started to get ready to take off. As soon as I saw green I pressed the gas and released the clutch. I heard the tires scream for grip and the tires bounced as I started to pull away from the pick up. The tires spinned in second gear as well but after 6 seconds of enjoyment I slowed down because of a stop that was coming up. I think I barely got to about 40 or 45 mph. When my friend and I got to my aunts house he told me that he slowed down because he didnt want me to go any faster. He is 25, Im 15 and to him Im like his kid. That was my first race and I enjoyed it alot.

Thanks. It really wasnt much of a race. It was really short and my opponent quit after four seconds.

Yeah I bet your 100 ft/lbs of torque about tore the tires off your wheels!
I guess we all start somewhere though, so good race..

HAHAHA, that really is kind of an exaguration(is that spelled right?) but the tires do spin in first and second. Plus, I just used that phrase to give the story some audio and imagery.

fun race man, i think everyone started with a non super fast car. Most people still dont have one. Its more so about having fun, the adrenaline rush you get, the sound of two engines screaming down the road, or just the randomness of the races. Street racing is very fun, but you MUST KNOW YOUR LIMITS. And the limits of the road and car. Theirs alot of innocent people on the road and alot of unpredictable events that can accure. Racing is ok in my book as long as you keep it safe. Like dont race in heavy traffic or on bad roads. Dont race on streets with lots of cross traffic. Dont race near cops. Dont race in residentials, if the speed limit is under 35 MPH, dont even think about racing. Dont go to excessive speeds on non highway roads, thats just asking for danger. I dont go faster than 75mph on non highway roads when racing, its just to unsafe.

Have fun and be safe, if you win the race, but die in the crash your still a loser.

Do you guys think the pick up would have won if we would have kept on going.

ah the first race is always great, i remember mine, i was on my big wheel and my buddy was in his power wheel, he was packin like .002 whp, at the time my legs where puttin out about .01 hp, so i had the edge, and i was lighter, so we lined up at the edge of the play ground, and the trophy girl, my mom at the time, screamed go, and the race was on. since we were on pavement he got the jump on me cause i spun my ginormous front wheel but once i got it to hook up and overcame the torque steer, i was quickly on his tail, but before things got to dangerous i had to shut it down, cause by that time i was almost breaking the sound barrier. but ever since then racing has been in my blood. good luck, and be carefull, and yes i think if the truck was really racing he might have taken you. unless it was a 4 banger, but the 6 would have given you a good run.

The pick up was a four banger. What do you think?

well the 4 cyl only put out 142 hp with arund 160 torque i believe, i think it weighs around 2,770. your car on the other hand has a little less hp around 100 and weights about 2449, so it would be close, but i think you might edge him out, you should ask him to race sometime, but just make sure you do it real late at night on an empty road. but i think you should win

my moms nissan frontier has some good acceleration...ive found shifting at 5500 gives best run..makes peak HP somewhere in the low 5's and peak torque somewhere in the low 4's so the 2.4 DOHC engine is like the perfect conservatively fast street engine...even 143HP on 3700lbs can push me back a lil in the seat...

my friends toyota tocoma has the v6 and its slow as balls, so if the nissan frontier is anything like that then you must be used to driving lawnmowers, j/k but the only fast truck i have ever been in is my roomates lightning with i/h/e and pully's, that thing is fast

i didnt say it was fast...i was comparing it to other trucks... but my tractor will do a wheelie if i have any equiptment on the PTO...such as bush hod, tiller, plow ETC...lol...the big john deer inline 6 4 speed non syncro's tranny with over drive...top speed...18MPH...that is very scary with 44" heavy tread tractor tires and no suspension...

ur tires screamed... thats believable, i've seen the rims and wheels on those things, i say keep the rims and put some better gripping tires, then save for a B16 or B18C1...definitely, you'll be running lots of trucks :D

One of them is missing a hubcap.:uhoh: Some 15 inch, 5 spoke bronze rims will look good and perform better. But maybe I want some bronze 17's or 18's for show.

if you go for show then definitely go bigger, but it will make it sluggish off the line w/ those size rims, thats why i say keep it small the rotation is better
