Well ive already researched up and learned about intakes and what they are. But now im still trying to understand headers? Say i was to buy some ceramic coated headers for my 3.8L firebird. Is that even worth the money for my car? Would i have to change any other parts on my car so they could handle good headers? Also when you buy them do you get a set, ive seen cars with headers on both sides of the engine or is that normal or just on an 8-cylinder and higher? As you can see i'm still trying to learn. But if you have any recommendations i would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Eric

Ok first, ceramic coated headers are the best because they keep you exhaust lookin nice without rustin. No you more than likely do not have to change anything under the hood for headers. You probably won't get a set of headers they come in each. about 500-800$$$$ for ceramic. And duh headers go on both sides of the engine unless its a 4 cylinder. On a V6 there is 3 cylinders on the left and right side of the engine. V8 there is 4 cyliners onthe left and right engine. And so on for V10's V12's and the all new V16's. I wont be that hard to learn all this because I learned alot buy just readin car mags and the Internet. Any more questions just email me at [email protected]

also about ceramic headers that i forgot to put in is that the outside of the headers and exhaust is cooler while hotter in the insides to keep all the rest of the engine form gettin to hot.

So now that i know a little about headers i need to know something else. I have flowmasters on my car, it isnt (true) dual exhaust. I take it its catback because it goes from the cataylic converter to the muffler, then from there just two pipes go back. Is that right? im not to sure. So if i was to get ceramic headers would i need to get a certain type of headers for that? And if in the future would it be possible to put (true) dual exhaust all the way back. Are there true dual exhaust systems with two cataylic converters?

thanks

good luck, headers are normally for the v8's. and as for true duel on a 1999... forget it. there is no room for a pipe under the driver side of the car. it can be done with custom fabrication but your looking at thousands of dolars

rksports sells headers for your car. they are a big improvement over stock, about as much hp as a set of bigger rr's

true duals is possible if you get the right panhard bar (bmr sells them)
it has to be all custom done, but it owuld be nice.

the 3.8 need some kind of forced induction for it to be a powerhouse so check into that first
