I'm sorry if I sound totally stupid for asking this question, but I have very little knowledge about cars.
I have a totally stock '03 cavalier and it has manual door locks, and I know there are kits for power locks, but has anyone actually used one? I'm just trying to see how hard they are to install and how well they work.
I'm trying to eventually put in an alarm/keyless entry system but I need to get power locks first

They're not hard to install at all. Usually just a couple of wires and an actuator per door. the actuators push the locks in and out and screw into the door. You just have to take the door panel off (a few screws). Any kit you buy should have good instructions. The control box usually goes under the dash.
I installed the bulldog setup with remote start/doors/trunk. My car's a 91 and came with manual everything. I did the doors on two 15 minute breaks at work with a phillips screw driver and needle-nose plyers.

I'm converting mine to power windows/locks. I've got the kits just haven't put them in yet. I need switches for my windows. Want them to look factory. Plus I'm still thinking of a good way to cover the holes in the door panels where the cranks are.

No. That would not look good at all....plus it's too low to put a switch there.

I know this sounds stupid and anyone can feel free to shoot it down but....
If you can't find good replacment panels at a junkyard or such why not put a set of tweeters in the crankholes and find small speaker covers that match your interior?

Does anyone recommend a specific kit that is good for installing power door locks & keyless entry? Also possibly a trunk release on the keyless entry? And maybe where to find them and any advice you might have? I know I'm asking for a lot.. haha.. any help is great. Thanks

Try http://www.bulldogsecurity.com
They sell a variety of combinations for one remote:
Alarms/doors/trunk
starter/doors/trunk
doors/trunks
alarm/doors
Etc.
There's a lot of other companies that do the same, but this is the only one I've dealt with.

I've checked every junk yard around and no one has door panels that had power windows and locks for a 4 door in grey. One junkyard had some in the tan interior, but wouldn't match my interior.
The tweeter idean isn't bad though. Never would have thought about that.

This is my first cavvy to ever own or sit in for that matter, and I'm looking to install power locks. I looked at the universal fit at commandocaralarms.com, the one for a 2-door. Would those systems be able to lock/unlock the lock system near the door handle, which the lock seems very hard to operate manually. So the question is would the system actually have enough power to lock/unlock?
