Transmission problem?

Okay --- I was driving about 55mph (steadily) down a road today when it seemed like my transmission started failing. It started acting like it didn't know what gear to be in or something ---- it only happened for about 2 mins and was okay afterwards. Anyone know what that could be? I'm hoping it's not a bad sign of possible transmission failure to come --- the girl only has 48,000 miles on her.

:smile:Is the check engine light on? Did it come on then go off?
A tranny shop should be able to test drive the car @ 55mph
(not stop & go traffic) then again, they may catch a problem starting @ low speeds as well. Do you have an extended warranty???

No, the engine light never came on -- that's why I'm questioning it. I have noticed that the tranny seems to shift a bit harder now (maybe i'm just paranoid?). I have 1,000 left on the waranttee, and i'm afraid of what the dealer is going to charge me just to look at it, since it's only a "drive train" waranttee. knowing dealerships, they'll charge me $100 just to look at it, smile and say "there's nothing wrong".

Well........lets see, what does the extended waranty say :
example: ac components, brakes etc. find a shop (tranny)
that handles extended warranty.I noticed the 2 cent icon is gone from our list of (smilies)...
Most Tranny shops will do a test drive drive (general Managers)
around the block. They will catch the problem in this (short) test drive.
If you feel uncomfortable with that (first)
road test evaluation, go to another tranny shop
and repeat the road test. These guys that (run the tranny shop)
have an hear for spotting the problem!

hmm....well there is actually a new tranny shop right by my work. i'll give them a call and see if they do extended warranty work there. better than the 30 minute hike to the dealership!

Have your extend warranty paperwork with you and also a Corporate shop may be your(best) bet when it comes to the extended warranty part. another words a reputable shop. The warranty people will go for that!
Most test drives at a tranny shop are free...
