engine light came on..

Engine light just randomly came on, then i changed the clutch and put the tranny back in and it went back off again, then after a couplke days it came on again WTH?!! is there a common problem on 240s that would cause the engine light to turn on?

check the code. You won't know what to fix unless you know the problem. Go to the ecu and count the blinks when you go to mode 1

the light came off because when u worked on the motor etc you probably disconnected the battery, atleast I hope you did........ disconnecting the battery for a length of time can be a nig rig way of clearing codes....

when u started the engine again the light was off because the code was not set yet, eventually something happened that the computer did not like and it set that code, coulda taken 2 minutes, 5 hours, 3 days... what have u.......

ok , how do i get to mode 1? the only thing that it says in my manual is that the engine light might be on because something to do with emition so dont drive faster than 45 miles per hour or some crap like that haha... how do i get it to blink, please be more specific thanks.

on the ecu there is a turn knob that you have to access with a flat head screw driver. have the ignition set to on and turn it clockwise to the end, wait like 2 secs and then turn it back counter clockwise till it stops(don't force it at any time, it can only go so far). Once you do that, you will be on mode 1 and watch the blinking lights. Long blinks will be consider 10's while short, fast blinks will be consider 1's....example: 3 long blinks, and 2 short blinks will be consider 32...look that up in the manual(which is the egr problem and it isn't just the egr...it is the system) Hope that helps.
