Magnaflow or Flowmaster?

I heard Magnaflow and Flowmaster are two top of the line names but...which one makes better custom dual exhaust??? Would it be worth getting cold air intake and dual exhaust with a turbo kit?

Or if not dual exhaust, what would be a really good muscle exhaust? And would I need to change the header when getting turbo?

to get a turbo you need a new exhaust manifold (sometimes called a header on naturally aspirated cars). Turbo kits come with their own intake, intakes made for the car without a turbo kit will not fit one with a turbo kit added.

I have the Magnaflow on mine. It's really good and not some cheap loud muffler with an Ebay Poorformass sticker on it. :nono: Has a powerfull sound but it's not loud....pretty good performer too.

I saw a mustang last night with THE MOST awesome exhaust system, it sounded so beefy! I want to know what the hell they had...lol

But ok, so if I get a turbo kit, I can't get a separate CAI???

turbo kits come with their own intake, cold air doesn't matter since it gets all hot in the turbo anyway and then you cool it back down with an intercooler.

So can I install turbo and CAI? Is CAI something completely different outside of the turbo kit?

CAI = Cold Air Intake The intercooler looks like a radiator.

CAI is cold air intake, it is NOT an intercooler

an intercooler is a thing that looks like a radiator, an FMIC is a front mount intercooler and an SMIC is a side mount intercooler. Air coming from the turbo flows through it to cool off before going into the engine.

as I said twice before, turbo kits come with their own intake and intakes made for the regular non-turbo eclipse will not fit if you get a turbo kit.

Anyways, mustangs sound very loud because they have straight thru resonators with no interwaving restrictors both within the car and the mufflers themselves....that is why u will hear more noise from an american V8 than a japanese V8.

damn, so now i am going to have to sell the cold air intake that I just bought for my car huh? cuz i plan on getting the turbo kit...

you wont get the same sound from your eclipse as you will from a mustang no matter what exhaust you put on it.

yeah i figured, not to mention its just the 4cyl so its not going to sound as beefy...but so far i'm liking flowmaster...*shrug* i dont know yet =)

I just had a MagnaFlow installed about a week ago, sounds very nice, kinda like a muscle car almost, it doesnt have the cheesy honda import sound.

Does anyone have Flowmaster on their 3g?!? It's good to hear that the magnaflow on yours (EclipseSage) since we both have 3g's...that was my main concern, not sounding cheesy lol =)

nah...i tried to do it one time but the exhaust was too quiet to hear. ill try again soon.

some guy in a sporty had a clip...man i wish i remember where it was, it sounded VERY good though!! i'd recommend it just by how it sounds

A GReddy Evo 2 huh??? Can you explain? Is it a whole exhaust system or just a clip or??? Does GReddy have a website where I could look it up?

Magnaflow is the way to go but does anybody have a thermal r&d cat back on their 3g eclipse? if so, how does that sound?

my brother had an Evo exhaust on his RS I4. Thing sounded so damn good that ive decided to put one on my GT V6. it didnt have that ricey tune, instead it had a very deep sporty sound. it sounded so good when he floored it.

the piping is 2.5", it has a pretty big canister but our bumpers hide it very well, and the tip is pretty big. i can stick my fist inside of it. but it sounds awesome

The Mustang's gonna sound beefy for its a V-8 You've got the I-4 which will whine moreso than roar... With resonators in, your car will have a low rumble to it, with resonators out, you're car will scream a bit more, either way magnaflow has a great sound to it... Definitely not a fart can sounding exhaust, and with a question of full exhaust the third gens basically already have them for the exhaust piping guaging is at 2/34 which is what all of the cats are at, so i just put the muffler and pulled the resonators, works well and sounds great...

geez I keep getting so confused here!!! I heard sound clips of magnaflow for the eclipse and it sounded pretty whinish...what if i got resonators with the greddy system?!? how would that sound?

the resonators are already in the exhaust...its not something that you have to buy separate

i will try to get a sound clip of my exhaust today.. but i need a site to host it at. it will probably be big cause my video camera has a habit of making very big files. but i will see what i can do.

yea you have to click on file and the top then login as and put that information in .... do you have anything like msn, icq, or yahoo I could walk you through it but I think my site is having problems at the moment anyway

is it true that the greddy evo 2 wont give any hp if the car is not turbocharged? how much hp does it put out?

actually most cat-backs give you about 3 hp. i have seen a dyno with the greddy evo on an eclipse and it gave 7hp

right click on the links and then click Save Target As... and see if that helps

ive seen a dyno from one of the car magazines, maybe sports compact car, and it showed a 7hp gain. but the general consensus is about 2-5hp

and actually, if your going turbo, the Greddy is not one that you want to get. you would be better off getting a 3" diameter exhaust when you get the turbo.
