Hey guys...hows everyone doing?? got a small question...i was driving down the street...and usually when i come out of the signals i floor is...anyways...this time i reached 5000 RPM at around about 85km/hr.......as i came back down....i saw a little smoke coming out from under the hood....i pulled over check it...and couldn't see anything...or smell anything....any suggestions wat it could have been???
the car is a 2k3 hyundai elantra VE...now back in the day the company was known for a lotta bad crap...but they have changed big time...the cars are way better....(just so u don't give me a biased answer)

did you check your engine temp? it coulda been steam from the radiator cap. its designed to open up if the cooling system pressure rises, thus relieving pressure/steam, but closes once pressure drops.

no i didn't cehck it...i should have...i was talking to a couple of my friends, and they were like it could be a head gasket....but i like ur idea better...lol...thanks

If it was the head gasket, white smoke would continue to pour out of your exhaust; If i'm not mistaken.

Had you added oil recently? It sounds stupid but it is really common, people spill oil on the block and it burns off, causing a little bit of smoke. Anyways, I wouldn't worry too much about it, just keep your eye on it and see if it happens again.

As for the head gasket, I suppose it is possible that if it were damaged in the right place it could leak coolant or oil onto the block which would then cause smoke, but it is pretty unlikely.

i think i did an oil change but it was about 2 weeks before this happened...ya i know about the oil dripping....it happens to often to ppl...that was the first thing i was looking for...but no sign....anyways...thanks guys
