Well, I went to a quarter car wash that I normally don't go to. I was spraying down the front of my car, I got the gun too close and the water peeled off my clearcoat. I knew the guns are high pressure but DAMN!! There is a spot about 1.5" wide and 3" long between the camaro emblem and my headlight where the clearcoat is gone. It still has the color but it's rough and really noticable in the light. The bad thing is I remember thinking "Wow, this is really cleaning the bugs off, I should come here more often". I know they sell that color match paint and they sell the clearcoat by it's self. I can't really see using a spray can or a nail polish brush to put paint on and have it come out good. Anyone had any luck with that stuff? Any other thoughts or suggestions? Also, does anyone know of any support groups to get over the fear of using a quarter car wash?

I would goto an automotive paint supplier and see what they reccomend to use. See if the have a clearcoat like I would use in my spray gun in a can. If they do get that and tape of the area going about 3-4inches past where the clearcoat is missing all around. Grey scuff pad the old clearcoat but not the exposed basecoat!!!! Lay a good 4-5 coats and let it dry a full 24.

Now your going to need to wetsand out the lines and the whole area with like 1200grit. Go real light and just keep feeling to till you don't get the level differences between the new and old area. Make sure you do not sand through the clearcoat and into the basecoat!!!!!

Once you get the level differences and lines out, clearcoat the area feathering it out past the original taped area just a bit. Once you done that. Let it dry, if you see a lot of orange peel from a drycoat dusting. Take 2000 grit wetsand the whole area real quick like 1-2 passes. Now the clearocat will look dull. Power buff it out and it will shine perfect!

Good Luck
