I have an '89 mustang gt it has the factory 5L and a 5-speed, both the drain plugs on the pan are stripped and slowly leak. I have the new pan already but I dont know if I can get it on by just undoing the motor mounts. I need to know if the transmission is going to have to come off. :eek7:

Technicly, you do not have to unbolt the transmission, to change the oil pan. But, it may need to be in order to lift the engine enough, before the oil pan can be slide out over the K-member.

just do what i'm gonna do, take the motor completely out, change the transmission entirely, install a hi-vol oil pump, and install new bottom-end gaskets =). mini-starter too, stupid long-tubes and heat soak.

btw, my exhaust is installed... fuckin pipes BARELY clear the shift linkage and trans pan... stupid fuckin AOD.

as much fun as buying and installing a new transmission would be, I don't have the time or the money. I have Mac unequal length shorties so i really don't have a clearance issue except between the engine and k-member. according to mitchell on demand I don't have to but I think I might.
