Worldwide? since 1994

http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/techdocs/history/history.html

That site only goes up to the V7 though, which is the bug eyed body style. There is a V8 of the new crosseyed model, and the US spec.

and just FYI if you're too lazy to click the link, the US edition started in '04

Ver1 i believe actually started production in 93... Ver2 started in later 94. From then until present... we are now at the Ver8

Nope, it was 1994, a year after the Impreza was introduced and homologated for World Rally use.

I kinda have the same question but I didn't want to start a whole new thread. Does anyone have proof that the first US spec STI was the 2004?
I'm talking to a guy at school that thinks STI's were in the US before the 2004 model.

Limited numbers of STI's were brought in by private parties prior to 2004, Subaru never officially started importing the STI until 2004.
STI's imported prior to 2004 would not have been US Spec, this only started coming in late in 2003 as a MY2004 car which is the 2.5 turbo model.

From 1998 through to 2001 the 2.5RS was the flagship model Impreza.
From 2002 through 2003 the WRX was the flagship Impreza.

If you want absolute proof, I will get it for you, I see no reason to though since your friend evidently doesn't know what he's talking about.

Thanks for your info about the US spec STI. He still doesn't believe me (or you for that matter). I think I'm going to need your absolute proof.
Maybe that will help him pull his head out...

Show your friend this site:
http://www.cars101.com/impreza.html

It's pretty much the most comprehensive, and accurate, list of the US models of Impreza for every year.

Or this:
http://www.subaru.com/content/newscm/index.jsp?category=2

Just scroll down to the article announcing the introduction of the STI.

What does your friend drive, a honda?

Haha, those are perfect! Thanks a bunch, that second one is exactly what I've been looking for.
The funny thing about this is that he drives an Impreza RS and thinks he knows everything about Subarus, that's why I had to prove him wrong.
Thanks again Ray
