Magnaflows are cheap and sound pretty deep but not annoying loud.

Also it's free flowing, no chambers, straight flow, unlike Flowmasters.

I had a stainless steel Magnaflow universal on my old Toyota. For pics: www.cardomain.com/id/fx16gts

The sound is not ricey, but deep. When it was first installed it was quite with some deep noise, once it gets broken in it gets louder. I added a hi-flow cat and removed my air silencer which made it louder. Overall it's not crazy loud, the deep noise is like "smooth" just like their ad describes. Some hardcore would say it's too quite, but it was perfect for me. The interior noise was minimal. They are reversable, it's just a strait pipe with insulation material. I was very satified with the sound/pice/looks/performance. Check out their website: www.magnaflow.com

Note: on non-turbo cars, adding free flowing mufflers will lose some bottom end torque response, but the power is added in higher RPM's.

I had a flowmaster series 40 before on that Toyota. I think the shop installed it wrong way, since they are not reversable, the chambers flow one way only. Because it was really loud, and the interior noise was like riding a freight train. Or maybe it's suppose to be really loud? I took it off the same week.

I don't know much about cherry bomb. I'd recommend you do research before spending. check out www.carreview.com for reviews on car parts.

you can also build an intake, it should definitely help that car because the stock airbox is probably pretty restrictive.

you could either build your own the intake or the one at at http://store.draxas.com/detail.asp?Cat=3&Sub=3&Item=355 for the vulcan powered taurus might work for you, you might have to measure your MAF to make sure its the same size as the one on the taurus.

how much money do you want to spend? if you only want to spend like 1g, then go for intake and exhaust. If you want to spend up to 5g then go for turbo, intake and exhaust and you've got a descent performing car that won't blow up on you. if you don't know much about installing these, get a friend who does or a professional to do it.

I was thinkin of tryin to buy a old taurus SHO, and tryng to put my car an SHO, takin all those SHO parts and putting them on my Topaz, beacause the taurus SHO has the same 3.0l vulcan motor as mine, and for some reason when i bought my topaz it has SHO stickers on it, i have no idea why

Any other mods you guys know of? im not willing to put 5Gs in my topaz, im just trying to get more for my buck with cheap but good mods, thanks

a muffler in itself is not gonna give you any more power, get the muffler of your choice, then have a shop custom bend up some mandrel tubing to fit in it, id say no more than an 1" upgrade over stock.

N02 is the cheapest most effective mod you can do. You can get a wet kit for around 500 bucks and give yourself an instant extra 35-100HP. Just dont use it to much or you might damage your car.
Or you could go to your local junk yard and look around in the cars for old turbos/superchargers and spend some time with it. Get the turbo rebuilt if it needs it, then modify it to work on your car, you will have a real sleeper there. I mean like completely a sleeper, no one thinks of topazs as being fast. That would be funny to see.

Sorry im a complete noob when it comes to mecanical terms, what the helll does N02 mean? :icon16: hehe Nos? anyway about the muffler ,i read that the cherry bomb glasspack produces more power and better gaz mielage, is that complete bullshit?

Thanks

N02 is the chemical name for nitrous oxide, people dont like saying "nos" cause its too f&f. Even though a company that makes N02 kits is called "Nos". Their are two different types of N02 kits, wet and dry. A dry kit injects only the N02 and can be unsafe without something like a Fuel Management Unit to even out the gas/air ratio. A wet kit injects gas and N02 at the same time with a good mixture, so its alot safer for noobies to use. N02 is pretty simple to install and has potential to produce tons of HP. But your limited by how big your bottle is untill the next time you gotta shell 20-60 bucks to get it filled again.

Well im gonna think about that, but before i put juice in i want my car to be fastwithout the juice, so got any other opinion on good stuff i could in, like basic cheap mods that juste give me more torque or something?

Basically i want my car to have some base performance without the juice

thanks

an SHO does NOT have the same engine as your topaz. the SHO has a DOHC Yamaha 3.0L, you have an OHV ford 3.0L that was designed in the early 80's.

but, an SHO engine has been swapped into a Topaz, but it requires alot of custom fabrication. http://www.tempo-topaz-performance.com/topazsho/
