4x4 Porblems with my 91 s10 blazer!!!!!

First of all great site you guyz have here. Ok on to the problem. Hi have a 91 s10 blazer and i just noticed that the light that indicates 2 wheel drive on the 4x4 shifter stays on at all times. When the blazer is at normal driving condition (2 wheel drive) this light sould be off right? Only the back 2 wheel indicator should be on. Does this mean that the front axels are on all the time??? Will this damage the trany??

Do i have a bad transmision? 4x4 hi and low work fine!!!!!

Any info will be apreciated.

Ok, You know haw you have the indicator that simulates the four wheels of the blazer!! Under normal driving conditions (2x4) only the rear two wheels of the simulator should be on corect??? On my blazer all four wheels light up on the simulator even though the blazer is on 2x4. Is this normal???

If I get this right, the lever is in the '2WD' position, but the lights under the cheap drawing of the chassis and axels is on, but the single led for 2WD, 4WD, N or 4-LO is on 2WD.

Ok, here is how it works, when you move the lever, the single point LEDs (actually they are not LEDs, but they look like em) indicate where the transfer case is at. As you move the transfer case, a vacuum switch opens up and a vacuum motor on the fender under the battery sucks on the axle and engages the shift collet. Once the shift collet moves, a pin switch turns on the chassis light show.

So you have either a stuck collet a stuck pin switch demons

Ok. Good info. Now can this damage the tranny??? Now are the malfunctioning pices eazy to spot by just looking at them???

Nope and nope. you would need to test the pin switch and make sure the spring for the collet is not broken

How do i test the pin swithch. What do i need to take appart to inspect the spring on the collet.
