I have a 1998 Chevy C1500 Silverado that the knob for the headlights has broken off. Now, here is the completely uneducated and mostly dumb question...Is this something that I can fix with glue or do I need to find one of these goofy knobs? I truely hope someone knows what I'm talking about here. I can hold the knob up against the casing and push in to make it work but that gets annoying!
Sorry about the dumb question!

well to fix that knob you have to first pull out the motor......
and buy a bridge in NY....
goto a junkyard and have them get you one, order one from a dealer or 'deep parts' store (try www.lmctruck.com) or try the glue route, but I cant vouch for that.

First, it is something you can fix yourself! You can try your local parts store and ask for a new headlight switch, or you can go to the dealer and get one for a little more $$. Go to www.installdr.com and look up a stereo installation for your truck. That site has color pictures and will explain that the dash bezel assembly just pulls out and then you will be able to disconnect the headlight switch and then remove it by gently prying back on the retaining tabs. The new switch just "pops" in. Reconnect the harness and install the bezel back in. Your done! Hope this helps -Chris

By the way, I believe that the 95 through 99 GM full size trucks are all identical in dashboard layout, so if www.installdr.com does not have the install for your 98, try another year. I have a 96 Z71 Extended Cab and they had mine. Good Luck
